Postby Jeremey » Fri Dec 09, 2005 11:53 pm

For all Styx fans in Southern Virginia, just a heads up - Just confirmed that Styx will be performing at the Carrington Pavilion in Danville VA on 6/16/06...Frontiers will be opening for them...we're pretty stoked about that.

That's really cool, Jeremey. Try not to blow them of the stage.

So is this the only way Journey would open for Styx? LOL! Just Kidding!!

Jeremey,
In the past, how does an audience respond to a tribute band opening for an original band? I am curious if it is awkward, or does the audience immediately accept it?

My car broke down in Dunfield once. Right up the road from Kings Dominion, right? That may be a fun trip...

No NIG, Danville is just north of the Carolina border southwest of Roanoke.

Hey Dave,
We've never seen anything but postive reactions...I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that we've opened for bands that are on the same page as Journey (Starship, Kansas, now Styx, etc). Another thing is, we really aren't cheesy in our approach to the tribute thing. We don't beat people over the head with Neal Schon afro wigs or anything like that. Although I used folicle enhancement the first few months of our show, we decided we wanted to be as honest as possible in our approach and let the music speak for itself. Journey has such a vast collection of recognizable hits, and (if I must say) we do a true enough job that people aren't taken aback by it. In the case of Kansas, I think people enjoyed hearing an hour of Journey hits than they did 90 minutes of unrecognizable Kansas tunes with "Carry On" and "Dust In The Wind" thrown in at the end of the show.

We will all bow down to Tommy Shaw and kiss his boots if possible.

Hey man, don't forget, you're supposed to make it to the Arlington show in February!

Thanks SMB, looking forward to sharing details. Would love to get to Wisconsin (when it's warm), any place up there willing to spring for 6 round trip airplane tickets? ;)

You're welcome :) Yes, when it's warm!! Right now it's freezing here.

Just 6 round trip airplane tickets? What about lodging and food?

You'll be here in 2006
