Born For Adventure

I just love the live version of this song, just LOVE it!!

If Dennis would ever do this song live it will probably be for only ONE live Lost Treasures show. The reasons are obvious.

Anyway, let's just say a band wants to record this song, which band that is currently touring or performing or recording do you think sing/perform "Born For Adventure" and have it sound great.

Please don't mention current Styx, just other bands, thanks
:)

I can't picture any modern band that could do that one.

Metalica could maybe pull it off, but I don't think they'd do it justice.

I think it would be a PERFECT addition to the set list for the impending reunion tour of Donny and Marie Osmond !!! only question is, before or after "A little bit country/a little bit rock and roll" ???

I'm trying to think of the right band with the right vocals to pull this one off!! What does the band Darkness sound like? Someone PM'd me with that one.

Metalica could maybe pull it off, but I don't think they'd do it justice.

Metallica???? Hmmmm, if they would do it for some crazy reason, I wonder if they would make it just a little "harder".

OK, I will get serious, Suite. I really cannot come up with a modern group who could do justice to this song.

I could perchance hear Bon Jovi doing it. Maybe Queen + Paul Rodgers?

It really has a unique sound to it and Dennis really stamps the songs he sings with his vocal style, so it is difficult to "hear" someone else doing those songs.

And, unless I'm hearing things, I believe there are a few STONED audience members at that show who call out requests for Piano Man and Free Bird....Always cracks me up....

I think Dream Theatre could do this song justice. Maybe even the 'new' Queen.

Still NO ONE could touch Dennis's live version.

I will ALWAYS believe that song is the GREATEST prog/art rock song Styx or any other band has EVER done!!!

Oh Yogi!! EXCELLENT choice of Dream Theater!!! I think this will have to be the band. LOVE THEM!!! I think they would be perfect doing this song!!

Still NO ONE could touch Dennis's live version.

I know, but I really NEED this song done today by a great band and then to hear it live!! I WANT it to happen!!

Are you talking about Toronto show (boot)? I think I have 3 live versions of "Born For Adventure". I'll have to find them and play them all.

"Free Bird" - LOL I usually hear that at Dennis' shows too and also "Crystal Ball" yelled out - LOL

If Rush were to do Born For Adventure, I would also want Gowan and current Styx to give it a shot.

To me Gowan and Geddy Lee sound VERY VERY similiar. As for Todd vs Neil Peart banging the drums on this classic. I would give Todd a slight edge. Alex vs the rest of current Styx, I would go with JY, Tommy & Ricky.

Still NO ONE can touch Dennis, JY, JohnC., JohnP & Chuck on this masterpeice!!!!

Suite:
Vertical Horizon could come close. Give a listen to their CD Everthing she wants. The opening song "We are" is an awesome rocker similar to BFA. Along with the rest of the CD and the fantastic title track, one of the better radio songs I have heard in the last 10 years.

Yogi, I think you're a great guy, but ACK, ACK, ACK no on Gowan. No offense to Gowan, nice guy, but I'd rather have my entire body waxed (just had my eyebrows done-LOL) with great pain instead of hearing Gowan sing "Born For Adventure". I can't think of anything more painful.
