Anyone who said they were slowing down was certainly wrong about that. Kudos to them for getting many bookings. I know their accountants will be quite happy.

Whatever it's for...they must want to continue. And so far...someone is willing to book them. Now I do see them as being in decline, but then...I think that's inevitable.

You do whatcha gotta do and hope it works out for the best. Defining what's best is subject to interpretation amongst the band and their fans of course.

It's almost as if Dennis has given up the "woe is me" attitude and finally decided if you can't beat em, join em. Looks like he is trying to compete now! :P

Angie, Dennis is doing pretty darn good and has a GREAT attitude. He's moving on.

No, he's not competing, not at all. Seriously, really, really seriously - LOL

There will be one Styx show that I know I'll be going to this year too!!! I hope Classic, ChicagoStyx, DeeJay will be there too!! I know Froy won't go (LOL)!!

Dude, where do you get your info?

Even if they HOB payed 15k I'm sure they could do it and make some money. They can't bring a full production to the HOB in Vegas so it's more like a club gig. You don't have nearly the cartage fees for these types of gigs.

Add one more to those dates, as I know firsthand that Styx is playing at Carrington Pavilion on June 16th in Danville VA.

Of course he does. Styx was his baby. It's like an old boyfriend. You don't see them or even talk to them anymore but if someone knows something about where they are and what they've been up to, you sure will listen! :P

I added Jeremy's date and 2 additional new Styx dates in red at the top of this thread.

I'll keep adding when dates come available to keep all you Styx fans informed :)

Excellent response Angie, you said it perfect!!

Leesa I agree with what Angie wrote. I also feel that the "other side" cares about Dennis too and I'm sure it's the same with ALL bands and former members.

and the way I meant that was.....do you really think he worries and looks for everything they are doing, I'm sure he cares about his old playground, but do u really think he is competing?

No, he is not competing at all, that's just my opinion. He has no need to compete. He's just doing his thing. I "think" that he's happy right now in his life. I "think" that he misses Styx, actually I know just a few years ago that he did, but I think with all the events in this last year and what's happening in 2006 that he's pretty content in what he's doing. He's playing the songs that he wants to play. He's playing concerts when and where he wants to play them. He's not on a tour bus, he flies in and out of cities with concerts, radio & tv interviews when he wants to.

I "think" that he was pretty shocked with the sold out Canada dates.

He's getting more offers than he ever has, I "think" in his life.

It's not Dennis/Styx who are 'competing'...it's the fans of the two sides.

Both sides appear happy and the fans of each should be happy too. If you choose to support both camps, thenyou have the best of all worlds as a fan.

Adam: Froy has been announcing THE END FOR STYX IS NEAR for SIX YEARS. Suddenly, his tune has changed. Now, apparently, the band "can play these - BLEEP - gigs for the rest of there (sp) lives".

Froy: they are losing money
Adam: Right. 65 years of losing money. The band, the crew, the management, the accountants are all not getting paid...SINCE 1999!!! Froy, you've figured it out so intelligently!

The people who are doing it know who they are. I shouldn't have to name names...and they shouldn't have to change their posts to be more politicaly correct.

Guess again Frodo. Tickets to these shows are $60. HOB expects about 1500 people to show up.

Do the math.

It's impossible to say exactly how much or how little money Styx is pulling in, but it is ridiculous to say they are losing money. There's no way they would continue to get booked for all these years if they weren't making any money, pure and simple.

Actually it's not that hard. Most bands have a guarantee in place that must be paid up front. The promoter gets whatever he can on top of that. There was a website that listed the guarantees from major acts. I'm looking for it but haven't found it.

I'm sure that Styx has a guarantee for the Hard Rock show that will make it worth their while. Keep in mind that the casinos bring in bands so that people will show up and gamble. Everything in Vegas is secondary to the gambling.
