Has anyone heard anything from the new Chicago CD due out in March? “Chicago XXX” I have been a fan of their music since the early 70s and I’m hoping this new CD will be good. They have put out a few clunkers over the years but they have also had some great albums. Of their later albums I liked 17, 18, 19, and 21. Their Christmas CD was also good.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program………..

I believe that's Joe Don. Hey at least he is a huge fan of the band. Should be interesting to hear what they come up with.

Peace

They were performing a song from it, Feel, on tour last year. But I didn't get to hear it since they only added the song to the set after the show we attended(with EWF). Others on the various Chicago boards seem to like it. Nice to see an album of ALL new material coming. Their first in 15 years!

Serious question, I'm way too lazy to look this up now, but which members are original members?

Just curious!!

Robert Lamn(sp) is the only original singer. He did vocals on such hits as "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" and "Saturday In The Park".

The three guys who play horns are all original.. James Pankow, Lee Loughane, Walt Parazaider. Please forgive the spelling on the last names, but I'm just going by memory here.

They've had the same bass player since Peter Cetera left in '85; his name is Jason Scheff- he also sings all of Cetera's old hits.

They've also had a guy named Bill Champlin(vocals on "Look Away") in the group since around '82. He ended up being a replacement for the lead guitarist that died in '78, Terry Kath(vocals on Make Me Smile, Colour My World).

I'm looking forward to the album. I really enjoy a lot of their early hits, up until about the time of "Saturday In The Park". They ended up going pretty soft for the rest of the '70s, and then the '80s were heavy on the power ballads. I like a little of the material from these periods, but the early '70s was their strongest, IMO.

Just downloaded the CD this morning. Like what I hear so far. I definitely hear the Rascal Flatts influenece, though. But I like them, so that's ok.

Chicago & Huey Lewis touring together? That will be a great show.

As you listen to the CD you’ll notice the change starting with track 7. ! thru 6 are the ballads and 7 thru 12 are rock, jazz, blues, and funk.

Now now, Suite, Chicago still has 4 out of 7 original members. Huey Lewis has everyone except guitarist Chris Hayes and bassist Mario Cippolina.
I'm happy to see Chicago has gone in so high with XXX. Good show!
I guess you're not a Chicago fan then huh, Suite. Didn't you like 16 or 17?

Origin of Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is:

Robert Lamm, who wrote and lead sings the song was a young teenager living in NYC(before he moved to Chicago at age 15) It was a Saturday and he walking around NYC. He asked a young guy in front of a theater who was busy changing the marquee what time it was. The man said, "Does Anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care? Lamm never forgot those words and wrote them down in his notebook for future song ideas.
