A friend found this one. I never knew that "Castle Walls" was a classic. Love the song.........

Former Styx singer rocks crowd

LA Daily News CERRITOS -

Classic rock took on a whole new meaning during former Styx front man Dennis DeYoung's soldout concert Saturday at the Cerritos Center For the Performing Arts.
DeYoung brought in a 38-piece orchestra plus a full choir and seven-member backing band, flushing out a well-received concert set of Styx and solo hits. With a wall of sound combined with DeYoung's crisp, clear vocals, the results proved mesmerizing during a 22-song, two-hour-plus set that breezed by in no time.

The house knew it was in for something unique when the show opened with a 10-minute overture before flying into "Grand Illusion." DeYoung, in good physical shape and dressed sharply in a charcoal velvet suit, immediately strode into his signature hit, "Lady," and by that time the 58-year old was in control of the room.

There were some special highlights, particularly "Pieces of Eight" - a Styx gem that hasn't been played since 1978 - along with show-stopping renditions of "Show Me The Way," "Queen of Spades," and "Don't Let It End."

And that was just the first act. Following a short intermission, DeYoung returned with more classics such as "Mr. Roboto," Castle Walls," and of course "Babe" before putting on the finishing touches with a rousing finale of "Come Sail Away."

Once among the most popular bands in the world, Styx has had its ups and downs over the past three decades - who hasn't? - and DeYoung split from the band a few years back in an ugly divorce. Styx has continued without him, but DeYoung proved he's doing just fine on his own. Fans keen enough to catch this show certainly will agree. There were smiles all around - and for good reason.
