Song of the Day

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Mon Feb 13, 2006 11:35 pm

Styx or non-Styx, is there a song you have on your mind all day?

My song of the day is:

"While There's Still Time"

I listened to it pretty much over and over last week. I can't get this song out of my head. I'm still pretty bummed that this song didn't chart high, love this song.

While There's Still Time
Written by Dennis DeYoung
Lead Vocals by Dennis DeYoung

How can I sleep tonight?
When I know that tomorrow I'll be miles away,
And how can I leave if I know when I kiss you goodbye,
Baby you'll cry

Where do I find the words?
To convince you that there's a secret part of me,
That dies every time I must pack up and walk out the door,
When I'm wanting you more

So while there's still time,
Know that I love you,
Baby please hold me tight,
Girl while there's still time

If I could stop the dawn,
Make the moon and the stars shine on forever more,
And never again have to say how much I'm missing you,
But what can I do?

So while there's still time,
Say that you love me,
Baby please hold me tight,
Girl while there's still time

If I should go, if I should go,
There's a chance I could lose,
The love of my life, the love of my life,
Baby please don't make me choose

Believe me
Trust me
Let me inside

And while there's still time,
Forget about tomorrow,
Baby please let's not fight,
Not while there's still time
While there's still time
While there's still time
While there's still time

Love "While There's Still Time" , too, Suite. I also like the version Dawn sings on The Hunchback recording. A really beautiful song.

It seems that my song of the day is generally titled "The Last Thing I Listened To". So, right now, "Hotel California" is ringing in my head since I just heard it on VH1C. One of the best duo guitar solos ever on that song, but it will drive you crazy if it stays in your head.

Guess I need to put on some DDY or Classic Styx, huh.

Bugsy, "Hotel California" is nice to listen to once in a while for me, not too much like when I listen to my Styx or Dennis.

By the way, I keep playing the same cassette tape that you made me over and over and over in my van!! The kids have EVERY song memorized and in the order!! LOL Thanks again!!

Zan, "Strokin' " is played all the time at Bowling!! Every other Friday night I have that song stuck in my head - LOL

Quick put a different song on!! LOL

I did NOT like this one. Most DDY ballads I like. The three I didnt are: Dont Let It End, Call Me, and While There Is Still Time.

P.S. I thought Paradise was the REAL deal and would of reached #1 back in the day.

I love that song Suite!!

The song I got going in my head for some reason is "Haven't we been here before"

It is on the Kilroy album so that puts a damper on it but I still think it is a good song. The harmony is some of Styx's best. It came on randomly and hasn't left my head.
All alone and Trapped in Time.

My song of today for Valentine's Day is:

"Paradise" by Styx

Paradise
Written by Dennis DeYoung
Lead vocals by Dennis DeYoung

One touch was all I needed to know
You were the one for me
My fate and my destiny
You smiled and all at once I could see
I'd found a love so true
That I could give all to you

And suddenly I realized
That all the fortune and fame
Can't compare to the sound of your voice
Whenever you speak my name

Paradise is anyplace where I can be with you
Leave behind the heartache and the pain that I've been through
Safe in your arms
Safe in the world tonight
For you are my paradise

My heart was broken so many times
I couldn't imagine when
I'd ever love again
But every time I look at you
I know that I've been blessed
For I'm sure I've found heaven on earth
Each time I feel your caress

'Cause paradise is anyplace where I can be with you
Leave behind the heartache and the pain that I've been through
Safe in your arms
Safe in the world tonight
For you are my paradise

And all at once I realized
That all the fortune and fame
Can't compare to the sound of your voice
Whenever you call my name

'Cause paradise is anyplace where I can be with you
And leave behind the heartache and the pain that I've been through
I'm safe in your arms
Safe in the world tonight
For you are my paradise

Rockestra Theme by Paul McCartney and Wings
I have played it over and over since I awoke this morning.

A fairly recent song that perks me up. Heard it again this morning and now it's stuck in my head...I know reading these lyrics might not sound like it...but the song is catchy to me and does actually lift my spirits.

What can I say...and those of you who know me...say nothing

Bad Day by Daniel Powter

Where is the moment we need at the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to grey
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces everytime
And I don't need no carryin' on

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carryin' on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day

(Oh.. Holiday..)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong

(yeah...)

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Even though I listened to Styx and Styx II driving around today, I have "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down on my mind. Not a bad song to have running through my head though.

Ah yes, the Black Widow curse!! Mah ha ha ha ha ha.................

I have this one on my mind

"Queen of Spades"

Queen of Spades
Written by James Young/Dennis DeYoung
Lead Vocals by Dennis DeYoung

Day into night she's with me
How sweet is her warm embrace
Safe in the scent of jasmine
So safe in her gold and lace

Mornings I find, she's left me
So cold so alone, but aware
I try to escape, she finds me
Oh run though I may, she's there, there, there, there, there...

Luck is a lady whose smile is as cold as a stone
She'll bring you things, many things you might never have known
But when your die is cast she'll have the final laugh at you
She'll lock you in a duel, where you come out the fool

Beware of the Queen of Spades
Her black widow's curse might find you yet
Beware of a love that you will regret
Her love means only your death

Day into night she's with me
Turn of a card, she's there
The first time is free, you know
But from now on, pay me, me, me, me, me...

Beware of the Queen of Spades
Her black widow's curse might find you yet
Beware of a love that you will regret
Her love means only your death
