You are absolutely correct!! Dennis's beard gives it away - he shaved it right after Grand Illusion! I think 1977 because Tommy had pretty short hair on Crystal Ball I believe.

Chuck definitely has that "gay" look! It is sooo Freddie Mercury!! I wasn't following them then (as I was about 5), but couldn't fans figure out Chuck was gay by outfits like that?

Speaking of which, you know there was a hot little rumor that all or at least DDY was gay back in the late 70s. I think it stemmed from the cover of the Pieces record, people actually thought that was the boys in drag (not that there is anything wrong with that). Also, First Time is dedicated to "Paul" on the back of Cornerstone. A lot of people thought that it was DDY's lover. Actually, he said that this was for Paul McCartney. Still an unusual song to dedicate to Sir Paul I think. Actually I am one of the few in here who liked that tune.

I heard that! I used to say all the time that I was sure he was gay (and I was 12). The guy wore an unbuttoned ANIMAL print vest in the KWH video, fer f&#ksake. Plus the Village People mustache. The next most obvious thing he could have done would have been to take out a billboard. I remember being floored at how "surprised" everyone was when he came out of the closet in the 90s.

That said, I never knew how incredibly NICE the man was until I met him in 2001. Unimaginable.
