So what happened to the Styx board?

I noticed the main Styx board is down.. SPeaking of, whatever happened to styxboard.com? I liked that format best.

Styxnet got hacked into and apparently Eric is trying to get it back up. I'm not sure how urgently he is attending to it, it's been down at least two or three weeks now. Styxboard was pretty much replace by Styxnet.

How's your world Mikey? Miss radio?

Yeah, I lived there (Styxboard) for a while too. That was my favorite format of the BB's. I miss Styxboard the most, or the Paradise Theatre one that it was modeled after. Some great conversations over there.

Do I miss radio? Heck no! They still call me at least once a week with a question!! It has been over a year now and they still call! I still voice track on occasion for them but am ready to give it up! As for my new job, well last week's paycheck (for one week, I get paid once a week now) was bigger than an entire MONTH's pay in radio. NO WAY would I ever go back. The work is more physically demanding but it is Union, we get raises every year, and 187 off days a year. And if you want, you can work on off days for time and a half. I work most of my off days and take the overtime pay.

I miss the free CD's but not all the BS! Plus now I can afford the CD's!

As for the station, well the "imaging" is the same as when I left! I talked to my voice guy recently and he says he hasn't done anything for them since I left! And he still gets paid whether he reads 20 pages a day or none! Talk about a stale sounding station!

I did spend about 13 hours on Selector getting the music straightened out. The guy who replaced me screwed up all 4 stations then walked out on them. So I offered to fix Arrow's music (not for free of course). That was when I realized I made the right decision to get out!

And now that Styx comes to my town I have to buy tickets! But like I said above, I can afford them now. Got 3rd or 4th row, I think. Row "D" whatever that is.

Good for you, Mike! I just can't imagine doing anything else, although the heirarchy is a pain in the ass from time to time. We work for a pretty good(and RICH)company so that helps. Just got a brand new vehicle last month. Check this out!

Our station is still driving the crappy 1988 van.. Yep, 1988! Radio vehciles are used and abused and anything older than 5 years old is a piece of crap! They have money but know this cluster of stations is a money-pit that was doomed from the start. As soon as they make a little money with it, I predict a quick sale. They have THREE people for FOUR stations... ***THREE***.... One for WPFM (CHR, which should be live all day parts til midnight), one for Arrow (classic rock, all voice tracked now, even the request show where they dont take request anymore)... And the 3rd person is production director and doesn't have time to do a shift... The country station is pretty much jock-less or covered by part-timers on occasion. Heck, they even have SALES PEOPLE voice tracking. It is laughable and the worst organization I ever worked for in my carreer. That is one reason I left... That and the fact that it is hard to raise kids on radio pay.

Yeah the Styxboard got majorly hacked. I actually can't do anything about fixing it since it resides on the Glen Burtnik server. Paul is taking care of it. He's pretty busy at the moment but it should be back up soon.

I thought that board was cool, the few times I was on it, Darren was on it a lot and had a few friends, I remember he mentioning suzy and meredith and a few others, they had a link right on the board to post pic's that was cool too. I didn't get to enjoy it that much though because it was gone shortly after I went in.
