I'm not sure why this isn't posted on the Styx tour page yet, but it is official that Styx will be in Danville VA on Friday June 16th, with Frontiers...We're really looking forward to this show....We've played with Starship and CCR and Kansas before, but I haven't really been excited about playing with anyone until this show. What are the chances they'll play Crystal Ball or Angry Young Man on this tour?

I thought Tommy had "Crystal Ball" in a few shows here and there, the longer shows? No?
I love that song, one of my favorites!!
Congratulations too Jeremey!! I hope you can take a lot of pictures and I can't wait for your review!!!

Geez I'm pissed. Just got this email below. Guess the egos got in the way or something? I'm a lesser Styx fan today than I was yesterday.

On a side note, maybe Dennis would have us open for him. Anyone know if he's coming to the southeast?

That's honestly too bad Jeremey.
I can see why you would be pissed. It would piss me off too in your position.
Here's hoping you guys find a better gig in the future.

That is really too bad. Sometimes these things make no sense. Maybe they thought you all would blow them off the stage!!
Not cool though on either Styx's or their management's part.

Why would they do this? Styx management pulled the plug on the deal? Are they the ones who set it up? Any word on who they do have opening up for them?
I guess I'm wondering if the promoter broke the deal or if the management company did. Not that it matters much... but it sounds like someone in the Styx camp didn't want you guys playing with them.
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you tho. I'd definitely make them eat the deposit. (and since they're so willing to give it to you it means that that Styx mgmt threatened to pull the gig if you were opening).
jackasses.....

Thanks you guys...It was definitely Styx management that pulled the plug. The people at the Carrington Pavilion wanted us back this year because we opened for CCR in 2004. I believe it was just indicative of how established national bands look at tribute acts in general, as being a novelty or something, like they are above that. I don't know if Tommy's friendship with Neal had anything to do with it (him thinking it would just be too goofy after touring with Journey and their friendship, etc)...Just a bad deal all around. Oh well....Thanks for the encouraging words!

I have NO clue how the business of opening acts being booked, how much they make, ect... works. I am TRULY sorry for your band getting shafted by Styx and their management.
Could it be that the date(June) lies within their summer tour, and that their summer tour consists of a set lineup of bands. For instance Styx/ REO, or Styx / Bad Company, or maybe Styx/ Night Ranger/ Ted Nugent.
Maybe if it was a fall or spring show where there is no ' rock lineup' you guys would not of got shafted.
Hell, if I can speak for Froy he would say something like' Styx today is nothing more than a warmup band anyway, and why would they need two warmup bands for a Danville show???
Rock on, and I hope there are BIGGER and BRIGHTER gigs in your future!!
