Dennis Receives Award

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Tue Mar 28, 2006 12:47 pm

This information and hopefully pictures will be posted on his site. But most of you know that I can't wait to brag -LOL Just kidding

Okay, if you're not a Dennis fan then don't even bother reading and go read a Current Styx thread. Go, go now - LOL

This past Saturday in Canada at his show, Dennis was presented before the FIRST encore ( you know he has more than one encore, usually, don'tcha?) anyway......

he was presented a plaque from the record label and Universal Music Group for the TRIPLE PLATINUM Canada Status for DVD sales and PLATINUM for Cd sales. His sales are way higher than these numbers and both continue to sell well.

I'm very, very HAPPY for him!!

Way to Go Dennis!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

This is the closest you have come to posting the numbers.

So, he got a platinum CD in Canada.

That's 100,000 units. But, it's a double CD which means one sale counts for two units (at least that is the way it is in the US). That is 50,000 - not that impressive.

Not exactly a million in sales as some may think.

The DVD -

10,000 units is platinum. 30,000 units is triple platinum.

Even less impressive.

Keep things in perspective, please.

Here's perspective - Styx hasn't done it with either of their last two records or countless live albums. How impressed are you there?

Monker - you are the epitome of a forum troll. I wonder how much of your own contradiction you really believe.

To some people - success is a threat. In their twisted dementia stating the success of one is the same as pointing out the failure in another. When Styx had success with BBT a number of us (myself included) thought it was great..... unexpected.... but great. I don't remember myself or many others (I'll exclude Froy) tearing down the band for their success. By contrast why do certain others (Monker) feel the need to tear down Dennis' success.

Of course, none of it matters. Monker doesn't matter... neither do I. But it speaks volumes to the mindset, temperment and perpetual pettiness of the individual.

Dennis solo. No huge promotion machine behind him. DVD not released by a major label.

Well done.

Exactly!!! I think that's just human nature with most people. Jealously too, big time!!

Yes it is GREAT!! No he's not oversaturating the market at all. In fact he had to turn some venues away due to the dates that are already booked. He cancelled one show on the East coast due to the venue being close to one that was booked and the West coast one due to, well you all know that story.

It's not stupid to fight who's done better - just kidding. I do enjoy Dennis' success. Hey, I care!!!

OH PLEASE, don't be a smart ass, you know what I mean. He doesn't have major record company promoting his cd and DVD, it's selling on their own and doing pretty good. He does a few radio interviews and thousands more sold.

Like anyone reads what I post on message boards anyway - LOL

Don't start with me today!!! Mah ha ha LOL

I don't see anybody bragging about Styx sales - DO YOU? Perhaps you should post some tripe like the above when you are responding to an idiot who brags about Styx album sales.

Monker - you are the epitome of a forum troll. I wonder how much of your own contradiction you really believe.

I'm not contradicting anything.

As you said, sometimes the truth is harsh. The truth is that a platinum album, or DVD, in Canada is no where near as impressive as it is in the US. I don't care if it is DeYoung, Styx, or Journey...a hundred thousand 'units' isn't even a gold album in the US.

To some people - success is a threat. In their twisted dementia stating the success of one is the same as pointing out the failure in another.

We're not even discussing Styx. In YOUR twisted dementia saying a platinum album in Canada is not very impressive is somehow an 'attack' and the proper reply is to run down Styx. Your mind is twisting this discussion to one about Styx...nobody else is.

When Styx had success with BBT a number of us (myself included) thought it was great..... unexpected.... but great. I don't remember myself or many others (I'll exclude Froy) tearing down the band for their success.

Oh, please. We couldn't even discuss that in this forum because people would follow froy's lead. It was a waste of time to even mention anything about BBT, unless it related to how horrible it was. Every thread started about it went down the same path of hatred.

Which BTW, is exactly what you and yogi did to the 'Gowans Awards' thread...turned it into a joke and a waste of time

By contrast why do certain others (Monker) feel the need to tear down Dennis' success.

I'm not 'tearing it down'. I'm putting it in perspective. 100,000 units IS what an album needs to sell to go platinum. That's a simple FACT. Deal with it.

But it speaks volumes to the mindset, temperment and perpetual pettiness of the individual.

Yeah, and my little dog, too.

Perception is such an amazing entity.

Some are impressed with the award being given, others view it as paltry given the numbers required. And it all still boils down to what a person values.

And then to bolster a point of view, other threads are brought in to make a point. And no one is going to change their minds, because of their very own perceptions.

It does speak volumes that some here wish to argue the inane.

Carry on....whatever gets you through the day.
