This is posted under truce....please no one claim agrieved status because I only seek info.
Just came across Gr Hts (w/ out sleeve b/c I bought it legally used) and want to start learning the Styx cannon and would like a track by track rundown of who's singing what, if you please.
Thanks
PS
I'm looking to have my next pickup be Big Bang Theory as I always wanna support the new stuff our bands do and also want to hear the new lineup asap even though some may recommend against.

These are the singers singing lead. Most of the Styx songs were written with the 3-Part Harmony in mind for Dennis/Tommy/JY.
If you need anything, just ask away on here

Lady - Dennis
The Best of Times - Dennis
Lorelei - Dennis
Too Much Time on My Hands - Tommy
Babe - Dennis
Fooling Yourself - Tommy
Show Me The Way - Dennis
Renegade - Tommy

Blue Collar Man - Tommy
The Grand Illusion - Dennis
Crystal Ball - Tommy

Let us know if you need more like that, Joe! LOL
My family used to rag on me incessantly about my absurd infatuation with who-sang-what on every Styx song. lol

well, since you ask. What about BBT? IE: Who's singing what and your opinions on the record
PS, any new songs on Gr Hts other than Lady '95 (really dug this by the way)?

There wren't any new songs on GHI, only a couple on GH2 (It Takes Love to Make Love - sing by Dennis, and Little Suzy - sung by Tommy - thank you, Glen, for writing these!)
BBT - hmm...I'll have to get out my CD, I'm sure I'll forget a few. OK, here goes:
Walrus - Gowan
Love it. Like a kick in the ass cover of the original. My father thinks it's the "best F***ing re-make he's ever heard." lol
Talking About the Good Times - Tommy/Gowan
Cool melody, very catchy groove
It Don't Make Sense - JY
From what I've heard, the recording of this song was very involved and used a lot of super-cool techno stuff. The engineers love it. I can take it or leave it.
Locomotive Breath - JY
I am not a Jethro Tull fan, but I really like this song a lot! I like it much better than the original.
Manic Depression - JY
Eh. I loved seeing it live. Again, I'm not a Hendrix buff, so some of the novelty is lost on me, but JY does it justice ot my Hendrixly challenged ears. Oh, and the drums kick ass.
One Way Out - Tommy
Fakkin LOVE it. The drum solo makes me tingly. They played it at the last Styx show I went to (my 40th show - yay me). I was FREAKING. Todd's an animal.
A Salty Dog - Gowan
Love it. Way better than the original.
Summer in the City - Tommy
My favorite on this CD. Just a plain ol' kick ass rock n roll song. Love it.
Can't Find My Way Home - Tommy
I like this, but it's very much like the original. Tommy changed the "neeear the end, and I..." part just a hair, and now when I sing it, I do it his way, which frustrates me. LOL
I Don't Need No Doctor - Gowan
OMG. You have to see it live to know what I mean. LOL
Kick ass song.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple...
Anyway, I like the CD a lot. Some of the stuff I tend to fast forward due to it just not being my type of rock, but all-in-all, it rocks.

Going to pick up Big Bang THeory today, I saw 2 other titles I think both through BMG: Extended Versions (2000) and Now And Then (2001) Is Gowan playing the DeYong part on Extended Versions (and was the show really recorded that year?) and is Now And Then just really the same record with 11 songs instead of 10? If not what is it and what's the lineup?
Help appreciated....

The Extended Versions is with Dennis. They include these 10 songs:
1. Blue Collar Man
2. Lady
3. Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)
4. Renegade
5. Show Me The Way
6. Lorelei
7. Babe
8. Too Much Time On My Hands
9. Come Sail Away
10. Best Of Times, The
Styx- Now and Then
I can't find this one, unless it's under a different name. I thought I saw this one at Walgreens a few years ago or so.

Extended Versions is culled from Return to Paradise. Live cuts from that concert. With Dennis.
Now and Then I am not familiar with. I have something called Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow...I can check that as I don't recall if Dennis is on it or not. I know Gowan is.

Yesterday Today and Tomorrow was one of those Target $5.99 compilation specials. It was recorded during the Brave New World tour and of course as such does not include Dennis as he was Verboten. I only bought it for the video of Blue Collar Man.
