Todd on Dennis

From Dear Todd - February
---------------------------------
I just wanted to say that the guys did a great job picking you to replace John. Watching you drum is amazing, and I wish I could drum to, but I can't. The band now is great as well and the new Big Bang Album is awsome. This question may be a little tough to answer but I figured I'd ask anyway. I have tried emailing Tommy as well as Jy but I don't know there address's like yours. Question: Is there any talk to maybe having a reunion with Dennis (Dennis said on his site he is ready, if someone asks)? Question: How do you feel about Dennis as a person (He is one of the fathers of Styx)? Question: Is Tommy still upset with him or has the problems been resolved? Dennis Deyoung is great performer and a great person. Dennis did what he did in 2001 because he cares about the music and the band. I am sorry that I am asking these questions to you, but I figured you might be able to spread some light on this. I am not a reporter just a fan of STYX (New and Old) that wants to know and there are others as well.
Thanks
Merry Christmas
P.S.
Your wife is great with Brian Wilson.
-----------------------------------------------
Dear_______,
(DOESN'T ANYONE SIGN THEIR NAMES AT THE END OF LETTERS ANYMORE?????????)
Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Anyway, thanks for the kind words and the compliment on my wife. You're correct, she's amazing in that incredible ensemble.
Your question is a tough (and loaded) one and I can't speak for Tommy and JY. Those wounds run deep and long....and go back to when I was in first grade, age respectively, so I cannot comment on their feelings. That would be like you commenting on my parents divorce. What do YOU know about it, you know? I've seen a lot of things go down from 95' to 99' but the others have a lifetime on me. As well, I think no one can be called "a great person" unless you have met said person and spent time with said person. Without that knowledge first hand----it's projection, wishful and at best it's broad. However I do not wish the tone of this to be dark. Dennis always treated me respectfully (as far as I know) and seemed to respect my opinion on musical issues. He certainly possessed charming qualities and other attributes. We had some laughs. He just doesn't like being on the road......period the friggin' end.
I am happy to hear that you currently enjoy the band now. I certainly hope that's true anyway! Take care and thanks for your note,
Todd

Ah I see its all about touring money.
So when someone does not want to do 200 wasted shows a year they just dump the guy, Just like they did Burtnick and Dennis.
Just keep the touring money comming in thats all they care about.
I wonder if the Styx cover cd part 2 will be comming out soon.

I'd wager a lot of it's about touring money. I just can't figure out how people can be so opposed to others making a living. As far as I can tell all Dennis is out gigging (albeit slower pace) and probably making some money along the way.
Last time I checked Burtnick left on his own accord.
Dude, are you really this stupid?

Selectively ignorant, is more like it.
Glen did leave on his own, but I think he drives a Jeep.

Great you support a band that just cares only about your money
Go for it.
I just can't figure out how people can be so opposed to others making a living.
I will make you a deal you come up with a concept you can give it to me and I will go out and make a living off of it.
Hows that sound.
As far as I can tell all Dennis is out gigging (albeit slower pace) and probably making some money along the way.
Thats not what Todd said he say's Dennis does not want to tour period,
Last time I checked Burtnick left on his own accord.
Check again he left because he did not want to tour 200 shows a year
The same as Dennis.
Dude, are you really this stupid?
I guess not

Froy is no worse than Monker in my opinion. Yet those who critisize Froy are strangely silent on Monker.
I've been at odds with Froy in the past - but if there's room for Monker, then there's room for Froy

Froy,
Since when has there ever been a "concept" in a rock band? You throw some musicians together and they either mesh or they don't. In Styx's case the meshed for a long time and then deteriorated.
Time to give up being bitter Froy and just accept things for what they are.
I realize you think you're brilliant but if we conducted a poll it might state otherwise.

Really, aren't there a bunch of people out there making money doing something they enjoy doing? I guess I don't understand what the problem is, either . . .
I will make you a deal you come up with a concept you can give it to me and I will go out and make a living off of it.
Well, I guess I have no room to talk because the "concept" behind my job was in existence before I was born. Hmmmm . . .

Your right they did and the band does not egsist anymore.
The band running around using the name is not STYX thanks for your support.

.
I love how this always goes to being bitter.

I can think of a better place for you to stick that poll.

And one day you will get fired and someone else will take your job and run with it.
I guess you won't care the way it sounds.[/quote]

Well, you're welcome to try.
Also, you've got three of the five members from the classic Styx linup (and probably the 4th but he's dead) who say they current incarnation is Styx. Majority rules dude.

I see because they say its STYX than it must be STYX
Mick Jones say's its Foreigner and he's out of his mind.
The fans are the ones who say whos who and it looks like nobody say's anyone is STYX right now,

Yea at Rama the tickets are all given away
Most of those people in that town do not even know who they are seeing
Its just a night out.
I remember when I was in line at the Roger Hodgson show there was a Lady in front of me who was picking up her tickets and she said is he any good as she was handed comp tix. That casino gives away tickets to get in gamblers
So don't give me this crap.

Well, I was hoping to eventually retire as opposed to getting fired, but you never can tell. But you're right, I probably won't care. No sense worrying about it ahead of time and no sense mulling over it after the fact.

Yeah, and you can quit trying to fit that square peg into it. Give up, it just won't work.

If John Bon Jovi fired his entire band and hired newbies would that no longer make the band Bon Jovi ?
What would he have to call it then ?
Mick Jones created Foreigner and hired Gramm.....Foreigner is Mick Jones's band just as Bon Jovi owns Bon Jovi....
Whitesnake have toured with 7 or 8 different lineups because Coverdale created the band he can still use the name......
Sammy Hagar is touring with a completely new line up from his first line up that created his early music ........is that right or does he have to change his name ?
Mick Jones should of called the band Mick Jones's Foreigner when he created it ....then goofballs would understand....Lou Gramm is touring with his band lets hope he makes no lineup changes then he will have to rename himself phonygramm

Mick Jones created Foreigner and hired Gramm.....Foreigner is Mick Jones's band just as Bon Jovi owns Bon Jovi....
And Dennis DeYoung formed Styx so STYX is Dennis DeYoungs Band
WHOWA
Whitesnake have toured with 7 or 8 different lineups because Coverdale created the band he can still use the name......
Who cares
Sammy Hagar is touring with a completely new line up from his first line up that created his early music ........is that right or does he have to change his name ?

And that is where your facts are wrong Froy.
The original band was already formed by Chuck. John, and another guy. Dennis was walking by and heard them playing, and then met up with Chuck and John and said I can paly a better accordian than him, The panozzos agreed and got themselves a new accordian player---Dennis.
so who started the band?
(Granted this is a loose translation, but it's more accurate than yours.)
Off to see Dennis and Glen.

Don't even try to school me Pal
There was no STYX name when Chuck and John started.
TW4 Tradewinds anything but STYX,
Off to see Dennis and Glen.
Make sure you keep your hotel room locked,.
