Arrived in Newark about 2 hours ago. Hopped in the rental car (a brand new 2006 mustang no less) and went toward the hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel I discovered the place I booked was a shithole and no way would I stay there. Jumped back on the road and went to the best western in Morristown. In the lobby I ran into the band for tonight's show. I know Matthew is staying somewhere in the hotel I'm at (Dennis' son). I think a majority of the band is staying here. Dennis was not on the list that I saw when the promoter handed it to the desk clerk.

I'm waiting for Bugsy and Suite to make their way here now because I'm frickin starving and I want some lunch.

More later.

Ok.... so Suite is looking over my shoulder and frankly, she's pissing me off trying to get me to post so here I go.

Went to lunch with Bugsy, Suite and styxfanNH... good cheeseburger... really.... of course it was the only thing I've had to eat in 14 frickin hours (thanks suite).....:-D

Anyway, after lunch we took a mosey over to the theater and met some wonderful folks from Canada who had drove 7 hours. One of them was great and the other didn't speak any english... so we fucked with her head for an hour pointing fingers and laughing... it was great fun.

Seriously we thought they were just normal people until (and I shit you not) MID SENTANCE they jump and run for the backstage driveway. Turns out the non-english speaking of the two spotted Glen driving in and ran after him like a fat kid chases the ice cream truck. It was SO stark I looked up expecting to see Mohamad Atta's brother walking toward the door the way the ran away from the building.

SO after this we started walking back to the car and Suite gets this GREAT idea. She says "HEY... I'm gonna WALK BACK TO THE HOTEL".... heheheh yeah.... 3 blocks my ass. So Suite, feeling bad for styxfanNH who we couldn't get in the car, decides to walk with him....... now mind you.

.... it's 87 degrees outside.
.... its about a mile and a half walk (not 3 blocks)

So I drove back in my rented mustang with Bugsy.... and suite and NH walked. We can see who God blessed with intelligence. :-D

Of course, I would't be typing this if Suite wasn't watching and laughing at everything I'm saying. so it's all good.

Glen gathering is in 30 mins.

Show is in 2.5 hours.

Life is good

Froy is no worse than Monker in my opinion. Yet those who critisize Froy are strangely silent on Monker.

I've been at odds with Froy in the past - but if there's room for Monker, then there's room for Froy

It may be true that if there is room for Monker, there's room for Froyline.

But, this forum has gone completely to shit since Froyline's return. It's bad enough with all the exagerations of the DDY fans and not allowing any decent conversation about Styx...now it's nothing but the same repetitive "Styx sux" crap.

So, you can have your "shyt" forum. It's just a waste of time to even read it.

Hey guys... take your circle jerk to another thread.... thanks for flying in a flame from another thread into this... such a typical monkerism. loser.

Anyway... concert is over... There will be spoilers tomorrow because they don't want me to say, but Glen and Dennis do some acoustic stuff that starts with a Beatles song.... and it ties into the band drama. See if you can figure it out.

For now... here are some pictures. A touch blury.... I'll get some better ones hopefully tomorrow. We shall see.

Do you really think I care any more? Do you really think you can control what thread contains a circle jerk? I doubt VERY much that you can.

So, I'm a loser. I've been called worse. You should ask froyline for some pointers the next time you try to insult me.

Quite frankly, I posted it here cuz I knew you would read it. What the response is, and the direction of this or any other thread, I consider very, very, *VERY*, unimportant.

Who cares, Styx sux, right?

Ash...Thanks for sharing the pictures. It was a pleasure talking to you, Bugsy, and Suite on the phone last night. Sounded like the show was terrific, and I am sure it will be that way tonight.

What a shame that there are some here who cannot notice that what they perceive isn't actually the case. Don't let the negativity get to you.

Thanks again...and enjoy the next show.

Peace

I spoke with Joey, Balin, Queenie, and Janet from Styxboard last night, and they were all having a merry time. Joey called me during "Sometimes love Just Ain't Enough," which was devine. He said he tried to call me for an earlier song, but it wouldn't connect.

Apparently, DeYoung opened the shopw with about 4 songs then started asking if anyone in the band brought an acoustic guitar - so out walks Glen. Their first song was "We can Work it Out" by the Beatles. How friggin' funny is that?

I hope to get lotsa reviews from...everywhere. It was quite the Styx event!

Yeah.... We Can Work It Out was FANTASTIC. We were just dying in the crowd... Not everyone in the crowd got it.... but those who did were HIGHLY entertained. And they sounded great doing it too.

They did

We Can Work It Out
All In A Day's Work
Watching The World Go By
All For Love (This is a styx rock tune that MUST be on DDY's next record)

later Glen came back to do Edge Of The Century and then played second guitar on the final 5 songs of the night.

I think thats a bit of a mis-caricturization Zan. Actually I think I'm leaving a song or two out. Bugsy has the set list so I can't consult with it. I was too busy watching and making momentos to record everything in my less-than-perfect mind.

To somehow imply it wasn't worth it....... well I guess you'd have to be here to really make that judgement.

4 songs?!?! What the hell is that? I thought this was supposed to be some big reunion? Didn’t they do any of those lost songs? Didn’t Dennis let Glen play any of his own songs from his solo CD’s? It sounds like the DDY “Styx the Musical” with Glen being trotted out as a side show. I hope I’m wrong. I would hope DDY would have let Glen do a little more since he used his name in the ads along with the name Styx as usual.

I would bet that JY slapped a cease and dissist order on them playing anything from EDGE 2 that is why they did not play any of those songs.

There was, as I understand it a song played from Edge 2 last night. I believe it was something called All For Love.

As for the comment made elsewhere about only allowing 4 songs...since none of us here knows the agreement made between the 2 men, it's rather presumptuous to assume anyone "allowed" anything at this point.

For the record, I wasn't implying anyone was allowing anything. I just wanted that to be clear. I'm simply glad, for myself, that I didn't spend hundreds of dollars to fly to NJ for a show that only showcased Glen on 4 songs (or 1 or 2 more, in the event Ash left some out).

well, Balin called me this morning for my personal review. Sounds like it was a great time, even if the crowd needed to get up and participate a little more. As he put it, "New Jersians butts are a little heavy". He also told me what song he called on, but I can't remember now! lol! It wasn't "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough". He is going to the Atlantic City show tonight too, so maybe I'll get an encore! He told me he talked to you Zan. lol

Well this IS a Dennis DeYoung concert.... not a Glen Burtnik one. I expected Glen to get 5 songs. I believe he had 7 total. So I got more than I expected - and what I did get was simply astonishing. Both men looked very comfortable.

But sure... the bigger fans of Glen will be disappointed perhaps... perhaps not. Queenie looked pretty stoked. He still got to sing 6 more songs during this show than he did during his tenure with Styx.... so you could say you got more Glen for the money in this show.

Whatever tho... it ain't a pissing match. I'm happy.
