Looks like Andrew has had enough with the Journey Board. This was his last post before he locked the board.
And STILL it continues.
Ok everybody - CLEAR OUT.
Go and get a life.

Nah... those who can't have an intelligent debate without all the swearing and personal threats should be the ones done. Debate is a good thing, but without the correct delivery, it's useless

I think anyone who needs to personally attack others continually needs to be banned. It was obvious who the 4 or 5 people were who got it locked last night.
Gee, Ash, a styx fan started a Journey thread again. I guess you all
do care.

It shouldn't have to come down to banning people constantly, but perhaps that is the way I have to go.
Shame that EVERY other forum runs smoothly except the Journey one.

I don't think it would be constant. Once you warn someone, and they do it again, they have no one else to blame but themselves.

I don't there's any way it can work again without a closure AT LEAST as long as the one in '05.
Then maybe some of troubleseekers will give up. Sad part is, we had gotten some legitimate new jrny fans there after 'drew put out the call to lurkers to partake.

I don't see the problem in banning the trouble makers. If you had an infection in your toe, would you commit suicide to solve the problem or just amputate the toe and move on? Cutting off your nose to spite your face....IMHO

I agree. No tolerance shouldn't mean everyone who participates nicely should be punished every time a few idiots can't control themselves. Ban the IP addresses of the instigators and be done with it. Give people one warning a piece. After that, send 'em packing, IMO.

So true.
There were some very good conversation going on yesterday during the day. Then last night it got ugly again. And it was really between 3 people. But the rest of us get displaced......
Andrew, if you warn and then ban, people should get the idea. If you ban them 3 times you should block their IP.

Except last night there wasn't really any swearing. But there were personal attacks. And that is where 'Drew draws the line.

No, it was Ash who freaked out yesterday when another Styx regular posted an OT Journey thread. Try to keep up, Dave.

The problem is the time it takes to keep track of everyone and the effort it takes to ban them. It's just not worth Andrew's time. I am sure he has better things to do than be a full time moderator of a board that was given umpteen warnings to get their act together.

Maybe so. So why is he the sole moderator on some boards while others have "help"? Why not have some help on all the boards?
But I don't imagine it takes that much effort to ban someone...

If you're going to moderate a forum, that kind of stuff comes with the territory. I understand if he doesn't have the time to do it. But some help moderating would be a great idea.

Because when it's my site and name/reputation under the spotlight, I just don't trust anyone else....and if they piss someone of, then they just complain to me anyway....

I understand. But it appears you have help in forums you don't need it, and you go solo in the forums that need help...

Oh I hear that!
I have thought about mod-ing from time to time. The thought does't last long!

The thing is, you try and self moderate/self police a little with some of Andrew's rules in mind and too often out comes the "Go back to Backtalk" and "fag" abuse. I could give a rip about that myself because I know when I am watching a WWF cartoon. But I've seen too many newbies come in, have it happen then reply "this is why this journey board has the reputation it does.," then leave.

Exactly that Red. Or getting ripped to pieces because you didn't take sides with the right person. It is why I seldom posted. I've written more on here the last 2 weeks then I have since I joined this board.

It's pretty stupid to have to take sides. People should just agree to disagree. What's wrong with that? We can't all agree on everything.

Great. Now NIG and Ash are agreeing. I'll have to go find some new friends...
