Cool video on the second link, but no sound.

Has me thinking... How does one convert VHS videos to a computer file? I would love to post my "Best Thing" video on YouTube for all to see a rare video featuring John C. Don't have a video burner myself so I h ave no idea how it is done.

from scott my resident electronic/computer guru:

if you have a mini dv camcorder (that has analog input) and firewire, you can SOMETIMES use that as a pass through via the vcr. (vcr->camcorder->computer).

or you can go to comp usa and do a search for video capture. you can pick up something adequate for around $60-150 depending on what you want to spend.

OR you can send me your stuff and i can do it! ;) hehehehe...

What ST said. If you have a Video In card on your computer (or you can install one fairly cheap) or you buy a DV bridge of some sort, you can transfer your VHS to your computer.
The best option is to find someone with a DVD recorder and do it that way. I have found that much less of a headache. Once it is on DVD, it is quite easy to copy the files to the computer.

Once they are on the computer, I think all you need to do with YouTube or GoFish is sign up and then upload the clip to their site.

Those two sites have become THE way to share video files.

Froy, that second clip was really fun! The total 70's look for the boys there! LOVE the long, long hair on DDY, TS, and JY. No sound. Wonder what they were singing?
