who gives a shit? You somehow think that the only good songs are rock songs? What the hell kind of logic is this.
I'll start a thread on the last hit song JY wrote... because I can guarantee it's been a lot longer for that than it has been for this.

I always thought 'Boomchild' was a rock song. That was 1988. I guess that was his last rock song.

A rock song does not include Mickey Mouse and hoola hoops.
btw, no one said it had to be a rock song to be good. I like all kinds of music.
I thought the question was about the last rock song Dennis wrote. If you want to know what the last GOOD song is that Dennis wrote I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Yeah - this from the guy that thinks JY's songwriting is stellar. Thats credibility.

I think Harry's Hands is a better song and is a bit less "cute".
I don't think we've heard Dennis' best rock song since 1984... but I think we soon will.

But neither is a rock song

Look, Tommy is more of an acoustic player than an electric guy despite what you may think. To bash either TS or DDY for not writing lots of rockers is really silly. If you enjoy what they do, go for it. If not, don't listen.

So, OPINIONS are now gauging our credibility on here, Ash? Or could you just not think of the right word and needed to get the dig in there before the moment passed? LOL
I agree with Chicago. "Boomchild" may be classified as "rock," but the cheese factor is so high that I can't bring myself to call it that. di-di-di-di-shum-bob-ooo-waaay....
My vote goes to "Rockin' the Paradise."

"Harry's Hands" is epic-y pop, to me. I don't care for it that much lyrically, but musically it's pretty good. I don't think we've heard Dennis' best rock song since 1984... but I think we soon will.
Forgive me for not holding my breath. Not unless he can get Glen to co-write it with him.

Opinions mostly gague credibility. That an intellectual honesty. I'm just a tit for tat kinda guy... although I'm preferential to the tit part more than anything else
I agree with you on Boomchild... thats why I chose Harry's Hands... it is just a better song. I actually like "outside looking in" on that record, but it's far from "rock" IMO.
The best songs aren't rock songs.... or soft songs.... or epic songs.... the best songs are the best songs. And what that means varries to different people.

I agree. Tommy is better when he plays acoustic type numbers vs when he tries to be Mr. Over the top rocker.

This is a trick question! DDY has NEVER written a rock song!

I Would Say

I would have to go with "Black Wall", too. The version on "Live With Symphony" has a little more of an edge than the studio version; in fact, I probably never would have cared for the song had I not heard it on the live disc.
"My God Can Beat Up Your God" rocks during the verses, but then the chorus explodes into a rather theatrical bombast; which Dennis always featured a lot of, but this sounds more like a Broadway musical.

"Born For Adventure" rocks. "Best Thing" rocks (altho co-written by JY, so partial credit). "Rockin' the Paradise" - not a hard rocker, but rocks harder than quite a few Styx songs.

Dennis' new song. I wish I knew the name of it, but it rocks. I heard it about 1 1/2 years ago, he played it on his piano. Oh crap, WiseGuy, I'm bragging again!! LOL
I love all his music. When I think of "rock" I think of Metallica or Judas Priest music. LOL

It's kind of sad that Dennis wrote a new rock song almost 2 years ago and no one has ever heard it yet.

Why, Dennis is capable of writing songs without him, been doing it longer too

ROCK songs, Robin. Not "songs." Hence the name of the thread. And Glen's been doing it almost as long (and continues to do so).

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I hope he does. It would be a nice change of pace after 20 years.
