Actually, the guitarist from FT is REALLY good (Stevie Ray Vaughn's brother has to be)! Of course, I forget that this board usually guages quality by the number of hits someone has.
I'd rather see the Fabulous Thunderbirds than Foreigner or Foghat - any day of the week.

Unfortunately Jimmie Vaughan is no longer with the band, he left many years ago. Their current guitarist is a guy named Nick Curran and he may not be as good as Vaughan but he still rocks. I saw them last year at Arrowfest in Houston and they really put on a good show and the only original member, Kim Wilson, did some excellent harmonica work that really impressed the crowd even though we were all eagerly waiting the day’s three final acts (Eddie Money, Foreigner, and Styx). Foghat was also there they played after the FT and they to put on a kick ass show. Gotta love those radio sponsored concerts.

Thanks for the info, Classic Rock! I had no idea (obviously). I wouldn't mind seeing them live, but Jimmie Vaughan WAS The FB, so anything else is just a cover band version of the real thing.

When is REO's new CD due out??
They have released one track, I heard it and, thought it sucked!!
It is not really a song it is Kevin talking about fronting REM while having a bad case of jock itch and a toothache or something like that. He ends up at Hugh Hefners place wearing a striped sweater and a pumpkin mask while watching a one armed mime juggle old REO 8 tracks. There is some guitar playing in the background, and later the song breaks into a polka version of Keep On Loving You.
I guess Kevin has seen the success Styx has had with their different versions of Blue Collar Man, so he decided to give it a whirl. Kevin ends up talking for about 55 minutes on this track. I guess that will leave about 25 minutes for the other songs on this CD.

I just saw a recent set list for REO. They were sandwiched between Head East and Foreigner at a recent Great Falls, Montana venue. There set list was as follows:

Encore:Medley( 9 minutes- Styx inspired)
a) Roll With The Changes
b) One Too Many Girlfriends
c) Meet Me On The Mountain
d) Sweet Time
e) Tough Guys
f) Only The Strong Survive
g) Cant Fight This Feeling
h) Time For Me To Fly
i) Easy Money

Unfortunately Jimmie Vaughan is no longer with the band, he left many years ago.
And for you Jimmie Vaughan fans, he is touring with Junior Brown and they are opening for Bob Dylan this summer.

It's newer than anything that was recorded before it
And actually, they do have new music (Just Be) it's just not on a record yet.

I also heard it on the radio earlier this week. KC supposedly made some comment online. Something about having carried this baby in their womb for what seems like forever and it's time to push it out and give birth in all its bloody and slilmy glory so the world can finaly hear it...Or, something like that. Not even close to an exact quote, but I'm sure you get the idea.
If REO has an offical site, it's probably there somewhere, if you want the 'real' thing.

I will be heading down to Tacoma, WA to see REO Speedwagon at the Emerald Queen Casino. Hopefully some of those songs posted from melody encoure are played in full because I do not want to hear only a snippet of "Roll With the Changes." But that is just me.

Instead of constantly touring with REO Speedwagon as co-headliners maybe Styx should consider touring with Heart, or Boston, or Bryan Adams, or maybe Def Leppard (gut feeling Styx would have to agree to open each show). Maybe if the Rolling Stones were to ask for them to open they should consider. Who knows maybe Aerosmith might be a good fit to tour with.
I just think if Styx plans to tour co-headlining they will need to consider touring with other acts besides REO Speedwagon. Mix it up some and get a little variety of fans from other bands.
Just my opinion.

Styx probably does about 10 shows a year right now with REO. It's not like it is a usual thing like it was several years ago. It's more like when a promoter sees them in the same area at the same time, they pair them up if they can.
Witgh Night Ranger falling theourgh late this year. It looks like they are grabbing what shows they could.
I would imagine that next year they will do a co-headlining tour with someone. Probably won't be REO again. But I am gonna guess that they will do spiradic shows together like this one.
