My first post on this board and i wondered if anyone else caught this mini show?
Me and some friends were on vacation in L.A when we saw an advert to win tickets to see Styx!! Having never seen them as they had not toured the UK for so long i was excited about this.So we made our way to the bar were the competition was set up with some people from 955 KLOS (is that still going?).
Anyway had a chat with a nice lady regarding how big a fan i was and how do we win etc and left it at that. Then the promoters were talking among them selves looking at us and they just came over and and gave us 4 tickets!! We had won them she said with a wink
Well we were well happy and surprised to see the gig on at 8am in the morning, the show was around 6 songs Renegade,Blue Collar Man etc,and they ran through them once before they went on air. Then Mark and Brian turned up and the show kicked off.Managed to get a pick, some great photo's and a Tommy autograph on my ticket. Not to mention a really nice badge with the band, date ,venue and 955 KLOS hat.The badge which i still have was made up by a woman and given out free,if you are on this board thanks for that its a great memento of the gig.
Well thats my story did any one else make that? :P

Wow, what a great turn of events that led you to the show. Thanks for sharing!!!

I was there along with about 10 other 'die hards' you may see post on this and other Styx boards. You're right - it was a fantastic show full of fun and impromptu early morning goofs. I know I have photos somewhere, including Styx giving M&B their own copy of a gold record. It rates as one of my favorite shows ever, even though it was short and we had to line up along Sunset at 6:30 in the morning! We formed a line at the front of the stage and donned silly beauty queen sashes during Miss America. (I was Miss Conception.) Later that night a bunch gathered in our hotel room to listen to Styx on Rockline. I believe that was version 5.1's first time on Rockline so it was an extra thrill. This show was also one of a very few times the band hung around to chat afterwards, right up until they all drove off in their personal vehicles. LOL Is that when you got your autograph?

I'm not sure what badge you're talking about.....unless you mean a round button? There were a lot of those handed out back in those days, although I don't think the originator (Susan) was there. I will look to see if I have one as well.

:-)
