I guess you could play the JY drinking game during his interview:

If he mentions his engineering degree-1 drink

If he uses the phrase "ice hockey on the river styx"-2 drinks

For each time he mentions that the current version of styx is "the best one ever"-1 drink

For each time he mentions that Larry is much more talented than 'the man he replaced'-1 drink

If he uses the word 'reluctant'-1 drink, or the word 'legend'-1 drink...bonus drink if he uses it in the same sentence.

Every time he says "we're a rock/progressive/real/cool band now" 2 drinks.

If he mentions pending litigation-1 drink.

Every time he refuses to acknowledge Dennis-1 drink.

Every time he claims to have written a song he didn't or otherwise attempts to rewrite history-1 drink.

Get ready for a serious hangover. :D

LOL - thats's about the funniest thing I've read here in a while Deri! Nice :)

"The JY Drinking Game".... that could supplant quarters or "Roxanne"..

For those that don't know "Roxanne" is the drinking game that you play to the same song by the police. Everytime they say "Roxanne" you take a shot. By the end of the song, you can't walk.

I always played the two person version 'Roxanne' drinking game. One person drinks everytime they say 'Roxanne' the other person drinks when they say 'Red Light'. The effect is the same, only for two people. Not that I condone drinking games...for me it's more of a lifestyle. :D

I have a feeling there will be more paying customers at the Styx concert tonight that were at both FREE DDY shows in Chicago this summer combined. I’ll be there tonight so I can report back.

I could say the same for Taste of Chicago which draws millions of people to the festival grounds. If the sign read STYX outside the band shell there would have been thousands more people in attendance and 9 out of 10 people there would not have known who was in the band nor would they have cared. DDY has a much tougher road to travel. The band has the brand name and DDY can only use it as a side note.

<pissing_match>

Well that's ok, because Dennis has sold more copies of his one record (not even a new record) and DVD than his former band has with both releases combined. So... I guess the side-note is kicking the main event's ass.

Pwned.

Well how many copies has DDY sold in the US of his latest album? Yes he sold over 100 000 copies in Canada (I'd say about 80% in Quebec) but has it even sold that in the US?

And Don't forget a platinum DVD in Canada is 10 000 copies, not 100 000 like in the US.

Gold is 5000, and I think Arch Allies is approaching gold in Canada (for the DVD).

I'll try and dig up some numbers for Soundscan up here if anyone is interested. It's too bad that the CRIA (RIAA but in Canada) doesn't have a webiste like their american counterparts, even if the US one is very slow at updating!

Case in point, the Outfield's Play Deep was certified by the RIAA at Triple Platinum back in 2003. The Outfield got album awards for it, etc (pictures on the website) but does the RIAA site show this? Not the last time I checked!

I guess just be happy we live were we live that we can have the freedom to listen to what we want to!

If I'm not mistaken you have to request/pay to have RIAA updated.

Either way, Dennis is doing reasonably well in Canada. While Styx may be approaching that themselves, for the short term Dennis is ahead. But only in Canada.

Heck...they both are doing well enough...all things considered.

Styx would have drawn just as few as DDY at Taste of Chicago. Lets just say the people there were not the target audience for either Styx or DDY.

Why do you say that?

I saw Yes and Kansas at Taste of Chicago a few years back and the place was packed.

1 copy sold of a double CD counts as 2 units sold.

My point is Styx is out selling DDY in the US! Styx came in at 47 on the Billboard album chart with their last CD. How did DDY do with his last CD in the US? It must be hard for him to sell many copies when he's selling them out of his basement.

Not trying to start another "war" here, and I have NO clue on the total sales of any of the non-DDY Styx CD's or Dennis' "Music of Styx" CD --- but on Amazon DDY's CD has been consistently higher on the bestselling list of Styx recordings. In fact, in the last 1/2 year or so, DDY's CD has been ahead of BBT in sales ON AMAZON pretty much 100% of the time.

Cyclorama doesn't even come into play here. When Dennis' got a label and released his live CD, it ranked ahead of Cyclorama consistently.

Does that mean that DDY has sold more than Current Styx in the US? I doubt it, but Amazon buyers seem prefer his album to Current Styx lately, it seems.

Let's be clear and not twist the facts like you are so apt to do, Chicago Styx. BBT was on the chart for exactly one week and it was simply a result of them being on the Today show the week before. That is it - on today they plugged the album - as a result for one little week it got to #47 - amazing what the top morning news show will do for you. But alas, the CD was off the chart the following week and to my knowledge didn't even sell 15,000 copies - hardly the success you claim it to be.

If you want to look at stats - check out Amazon.com. It will show that DDY is kicking Styx's A$$.
