I just can´t understand this constant picking of current Styx.
I have only one request for all you mad DDY freaks. Go borrow or steal one copy of CYO dvd then come here to comment it and if you still say they suck I can definitively diagnose you insane. For me it´s maybe the best music video I have ever seen. I don´t care if there is no DDY songs, this band rocks so enthusiasticly and with such a drive they can make whatever song sound classic. And Lawrence is wonderful showman and sings well, I didnt miss DDY for a second. I do respect DDY for his past achievements but I think his return would only ruin this great atmosphere which is in the band right now.

I'm just having fun. I support both and have seen both quite a few times. The DVD is quite good, but sans Cyclorama which hasn't stood the test of time so well for me, it's been largely greatest hits albums and live albums. BBT is a covers album. Of the two new songs on CYO, "Everything ..." is the OK song. "Just Be" is pretty bad.
The live show they do now just doesn't thrill me. Maybe I'll see them in another year or two. The show I saw last year was basically the same one I've seen for the past 7 (and the past 10 before that, too ...).
So chill out.

I have it and have listened to it and have been complimentary of parts and critical of other parts. Overall, it represents DFB and not the true Styx - which is fine and I'm not being critical of that. I'm just saying that I really couldn't give 2 craps about the two new songs (which aren't very good) three cover songs. The best song on the album (IMO) is the first track - Blue Collar Man. Of course, they put it on every album these days, so I guess it should be their best one.
Larry Gowan's voice is simply awful. Thats my opinion. If you don't share it, then it's fine but he sounds nasaly and whiney on every song he sings.
And trust me, I don't want DDY back as a part of Styx ever. Let Dennis go on with what he is doing and let DFB do what they're doing.
I also question how "great" the atmosphere can be with JY threatening to sue everyone from Dennis to fan web site operators. I wonder how the rest of the band feels about JY's free-wheeling attitude with filing lawsuits. Do-As-I-Say-Or-Get-Sued. Has to be good for morale.

Album Title huh?
'Yet Another One With Everything'
subtitle: (non-Dennis that is)
sub-subtitle (you know the same old, same old...Fooling Yourself, Miss America, Renegade, Crystal Ball: A cover or two, maybe a live song, a couple of songs (One With Everything and Criminal Mind) that we keep trying to pass off as part of the 'Hits' package. Perhaps one or two new songs (a decent one and a clunker)... and last but not least ANOTHER version of Blue Collar Man.)
Then after the albums' release, we'll put out a live CD (maybe two). Then we'll release a Live DVD. Offer a special version on Blue Ray Disc. 6 months later we'll release a special edition with one more song, but everything else the same. For the initial release, we'll put out an I-Tunes only version with an exclusive song, a Target version with a Target exclusive, Ditto Best Buy, Walmart and Sears...Oh wait Def Leppard are the jerks that did that! I wonder if JY can sue retroactively?

This may be a rant but oh well...
Maybe if Jy would stop slamming DDY, then fans would stop slamming Styx in the same way. I for one have never seen an interview by DDY slamming Styx or Jy. DDY loved Styx. If there is an interview, sorry. I have also seen where Journey doesn't want to perform with Styx again. Maybe if Jy would be more thankful of what DDY helped Styx achieve and not hold a grudge because of the day the lawsuit was issued. DDY could not help that the day he sued his former bandmates that something terrible would have happened that same day to Jy's family. Jy has sued Tommy Shaw on many occasions, but I don't see Tommy holding a grudge, but I understand the circumstances were different, but still.
About the DVD/CD, it is the same thing as there last live album and the one before that. Rolling Stone magazine was correct with there review and so was Classic Rock. On the CD, the mix was terrible, the dvd was ok, but it was nothing like Return to Paradise or Soundstage by DDY.
Thanks

Styxfansite,
Thee is stuff out there of Dennis slamming Styx. But in all honesty, it was more like 3 or 4 years ago. There are occasional quips, but it has pretty much gone away.
As far as JY goes, he's pretty consitent about what he says. He doesn't say it half as much as you would be led to believe. But still, he seems to like the taste of his foot in his mouth.
THe wounds are deep about the split on both sides. but Dennis hides it better.

+1 on this one. DDY and JY/TS would regularly throw barbs quite a few years ago. DDY got smart and moved on. I'm sure he's still seething deep inside, but he hides it better. Even his "dreams" speech before CSA has changed a bit live. It used to be much more .. ummm ... pointed for those first few years. Those who knew what he was referring to it was pretty obvious.
And notice TS has pretty much shut his trap at this point. It's just JY. He doesn't say it every time, but inevitably the question of DDY does come up. I will give him this: his consistency is good.

In other words, Jy still slams DDY, and Tommy, Todd, Chuck, Ricky, LG keep there feet on floor

. Jy keeps all the negative vibes coming to the group, but no one in the group is Brave enough to tell him to shut the h*** up because they might get sued by him.

I think one of the first times Blue Falcon made the joke, someone laughed. Now he tells it everyday like it's new material.
