Explain the Neil Diamond attraction to me. Someone. I don't get it? I think the thing I like most about Neil Diamond is that he wrote for The Monkees AND his role in Saving Silverman. Otherwise, I don't get it...

Well, brywool, here's the thing. Early on , Neil had a major hotness factor going on for ladies like me. :oops:

I also liked a lot of his early songwriting. Some wonderful music there. And he had that deep baritone that was really not like any other pop singer's at the time.

Even though he had a Rick Rubin produced CD called "12-Songs" out recently that was very highly praised, Neil has not done much lately, in my view, to bring me to his music, and the hotness factor left him a LONG time ago.

One thing that I think no one denies is that he is a monster on the tour circuit. He regularly sells out huge, huge venues. His concert is truly as good a one as I have ever seen and he has this amazingly diverse audience that gets very into every single song.

So. That is my take on Neil. I don't plan on ever seeing him live again because I want to remember how fine he was back in the day. :wink:

Neil Diamond "HOT"? Wow, I'm a guy, but I can't see it. The sparkly shirts, etc.... I just don't get it.
He DOES kill on the concert circuit, but I don't get why that is and I know he has a huge following. But Neil was never a huge star the way McCartney, Jagger, Dylan (yuck) were and yet he continues to be a huge concert draw. Wow, different strokes.
It's like Tony Bennet a few years ago. How the F did Tony Bennet (T O N Y B E N N E T) become hip???? I guess it's like when Kenny G was hip. BARF O RAMA!

You need to go way back before the sparkley shirt period! Try the 70's. Hot August Night era.

He had a certain amount of "cool" back then. Robbie Robertson produced his album "Beautiful Noise."

Neil got very smarmy, Vegas-lounge-singer starting in the 80's and on up until now.

Plus, his voice is shot from smoking all his life, so he has about a 3 note range now.
