Anyone heard anything about DDY coming to Port St. Lucie, FL on or around February 9th? My grandmother just called me to say she heard about it on the radio, but it's nowhere on his site.

Was is an advertisment or was it just the DJ saying that he was in town?

I know when Brian Wilson was in Edmonton a few years ago it was for a big time Charity event for the Chamber of Commerce.

Radio mentioned that he was going to be in town, but since it was a $250 a plate function and auction, it wasn't considered a "tour date" so no advertisements in the paper, radio etc.

Couldn't say for sure. My grandmother just called me to ask if I knew DDY was playing in Pt. St. Lucie this weekend and that she'd heard it on the radio: Dennis DeYoung and the music of Styx. So...dunno.

I take it you don't have any information on it? lol

It kind of scares me that they are advertising Dennis on a radio station that your Grandmother listens to.

Lets just assume that you are 35 years old. Your mom should be around 55. And your grandma is around 75.

I just hope that your grandma is into classic rock.

When my grandma was alive she listened to stuff like Glen Miller, Al Jolsen, Andy Williams, Frank Sanatra & Jim Nabors.

If she has the same taste in music as my grandma, you are seriously smashing my hopes about Dennis's new CD.

LOL...

Sorry to burst your bubble, Yogs. Gramma isn't a big rocker, tho she does listen to some Styx.

Her station is adult contemporary, like Linda Ronstadt, Gloria Estefan ballads, Barry Manilow, Gordon Lightfoot, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, Sarah Mclaughlin, etc. (she does like Glenn Miller too, lol) Although in fairness, they will advertise any and all stations they think might have listeners who are interested.

For what Dennis is doing these days, AC stations would be the correct place. I don't think you'd advertise him on stations playing Metalica. Maybe those playing Foghat...

When Dennis came to the Coronado Theatre here in Rockford back in January of 2004, it was a Classic Rock channel that advertised him along with Talk Radio...

Well now, I hope to God you're not making fun of Jim Nabors . . . obviously you are not familiar with his classic 1976 double live record NABORS COMES ALIVE. That one really fucking ROCKED! LOL.

Seriously, though, for the most part the stations that I have seen advertising Dennis or bringing him to town are classic rock stations. Let's face it, people that are going to those shows are Styx fans, not fans of his solo career, which most people are barely aware of outside of Desert Moon. It only makes sense to market him to the widest possible audience, and that is the classic rock fans. They probably buy a few isolated spots on some AC stations to pick up a few stragglers.

I hope all is well.

sucks. the classic rock station in Seattle will spend 364 days a year slagging half of their artists, then when they come to town, suddenly the radio station is their best bud. I hate Seattle radio. What a void.

Our local 'Classic Rock' station plays roughly the same 200 songs ALL THE FREAKIN' time. Literally a base of about 200 songs, the EXACT SAME ONES they played when they started. Beatles, Stones, Who, Hendrix, Floyd, Zepplin, Skynyrd...you get the picturee. I guess I am lucky we actually have more stations that play MUSIC than the ones that play Hip Hop/Rap/Dance. There are roughly 6 radio stations that play a range from Modern Rock to Adult Contemporary Lite. There are 2 Country stations and 3-4 Urban stations. I guess its not so bad, but not really any one station that I'm into. I hate to say it, but I've moved more into Sports Talk Radio than anything else. That and CD's. Perhaps I should invest in XM radio. Anyone recommend a service?

Oh, JOY. Thanks for telling me that. My band has a gig tomorrow night. I was *hoping* she'd gotten the dates wrong and it was really Sunday or something. Now I'm just plain PISSED.

Does your band take requests??

If so, I request With Every Heartbeat & Just Fell In.

If you play those two songs first, and if you have a good medical kit on hand, there is a good chance that you and your entire possee will be able to make the DDY/Glen concert.

Good call. I might throw in Hip-Hip-Hip and take a few of the regulars with us.
