As good as he is solo, I`d like Dennis to get back the magic that was Styx and certainly whilst his voice is sounding so great.

So it`s a yes from me to Dennis returning.

We can all but hope.

That you can't read the results of a simple poll? Not really.

Nope. I have no desire for more concept albums, broadway experiments, or electric piano based tunes.
I also, however, have no desire for more live albums either.
Hopefully (and I've said this every year) Styx will release a new studio album and Dennis will do the same. This way, you get the best of both worlds.

Why is it that every newbie asks if Dennis should reunite with Styx or about Tommy's past drug issues?

Re: a new Styx album JY was was not super clear in his interview in Classic Rock Mag.Feb issue.
Something was gonna happen in 2007.A Styx project with a few new songs or maybe a new album.
What he said was along the lines ...'Is the world really looking for a new Styx album?'.
Make of that as you will.

IF Dennis is going to release a new album this year and there is nothing new from the Styx camp, can you imagin what is going to be said by the fans.

Yet, if Dennis album actually rocks, could you imagie the pressure that puts on Styx?

Worse yet, heaven forbid, what if Dennis album actully sells?

I voted "NO" and don't see the point in constantly comparing and pitting, Dennis against Styx.

I would have voted, but there was no "I don't remotely give a damn" category.

From the guy who turned down the lead vocal on "Everything Is Cool" and then went on to record "My God Can Beat Up Your God," I don't think the odds are great. But I'm curious.

I know I'm eagerly awaiting Styx's 15th live album in the last six years.

It's scientifically impossible for a DDY album to 'actually rock.' Too many cringe-inducing odes to Suzanne. :D

I think that if Dennis WANTS to return to Styx then ALLLLLLLLL the Styx members and their management teams should sit down and have a long talk. Figure out what is best for everyone involved and then see if its plausible. If it could be done give everyone ample time to complete new projects, and tie up loose ends. After all other commitments are taken care of get into the studio(as a group) and record a new CD. Finally, strategically orchestrate fourty plus shows in top Styx cities supporting their new CD and see what the hell happens .

Don't get me wrong - by no means do I like all DDY songs (I can be critical), but both camps are guilty of some songs which are not the (ahem) best. I'd be more than happy to never hear "Yes I Can" again as much as most people hate "Babe".

All kidding aside, if you look at the mess that is going on with Van Halen, if I had my choice, I say keep Styx separate from DDY. If Styx fell into the debacle that is VH, it will do more harm than good and split the fanbase even further. Unless they can do it and after they do it, call it a day and go out on a relative high note, don't do it at all.

Unfortunately, old feelings run deep. Let sleeping dogs lie at this point.

Obviously you have more knowledge on the inside history of this band. It is true that most of us here don't have a clue as to what really went on all those years so why do some have such an emotional connection to all this? I have my opinions and I really love the music that was created by this group of people but to get so caught up in all the BS....isn't life difficult enough without getting emotionally caught up in other peoples lives that you have no personal connection with?

Look, I'm not best friends with the band. I'm a guy who grew up as a fan, started collecting their stuff, and have interviewed some of the guys over the years. I have no ties to the band whatsoever. I don't have DDY's or TS' home phone number, nor do I call them to shoot the breeze. I've been lucky enough over the years to be in a position where I am privy to info that I cannot repeat (nor would I betray any confidences) through various things. I guess you could say people know who I am and where I fit into the Styx community at large ;)

If time has taught us about Styx, it's that 1999 changed everything. I don't see the point in 2007 or beyond doing a reunion that could take what is already a fragile situation and possibly make it worse. VH did exactly that. THAT'S my point. If you think people are split now, wait until a reunion that if it failed, would either be JY or DDY's fault depending on who you ask. TS would most likely get a pass. I would rather them not do it and keep things they way they are ... or if they are going to attempt it, do a final hurrah to celebrate the band and its legacy (esp. around something like the 30th of GI and it's too late for that to happen). I would not expect a studio album. I'd rather have a tour and them call it a day instead of rekindling things and having another BNW fiasco. A final reunion (even for shows) in my opinion would heal a lot of wounds for people who care about such things and reunite the fan base once more.

Look at the posts on this board going back quite a few years - the camp situation between the staunch supporters of current Styx and those for DDY are sometimes entertaining but it speaks to a large portion of the fanbase. Very few people who were longtime fans - and I consider myself one of them - seem to be able to stay somewhat in the middle. I was literally thrown in the middle after I did my DDY interview in 1999, so how can I not have any feelings on this situation? It got very ugly for me there for awhile to the point a certain band member e-mailed me privately (Not DDY) and it was not a friendly "hi, how're ya doin'" e-mail. Basically, a lot of people thought I was a shill for DDY which not the case nor has it ever been.

That situation is all water under the bridge and that person and I have no more beef (we cleared the air and I've run into that person since in the flesh), but it shows you that the mess that was the Styx breakup affected those outside the immediate circle.

I can see how some outside the immediate circle could be affected by this but for most, they just need to chill out and enjoy what is being produced now from Styx and DDY. At least we get something from them, whereas neither of them could be doing anything. Would some rather have that?

You're 38 posts in. Hang around here longer and you will see that there is no reasoning with some people on this situation. As I have said, people need to get over it, but it's not going to happen. So yes, some would rather have nothing than either what Styx or DDY is doing.
