Let's help save melodicrock.com!

If there were a discrete way to do this, I would. Since Andrew moderates the boards and is the owner of the site, that's not possible, unless I IM'd everyone, which would take all night. Anyway, we're all aware how he's poured his heart and soul into melodicrock.com, and I daresay that there are more than a few artists out there who owe their continued viability in large part to the existence of this site.

So, I'm going to propose that we all pitch in his time of need. I order 10-15 CD's a year based on his reviews and through his sponsors, but given his problems with advertising revenue...I propose that those of us who spend a lot of time here reading and posting contribute $10-$20 in the next few weeks, sort of like a site membership. To me, that's money well spent. I want this site to continue forever, until Andrew's kids are ready to take over in 30 years or so...by which time this will be the #1 music site on the 'net.

I think the only way we could do this would be via an on-site link...I'm a Flight Simulator addict, and a lot of the people who create the add-on files do it for free, but enable you to contribute any small sum of money that you think would be appropriate. I hope everyone rallies around this idea...$5, $10, $20...whatever fits your budget. Remember, you wouldn't just be saving this site...you'd me saving melodic rock as we know it.

So you're basically saying that those of us who buy the melodicrock.com Cd's and have a MR-X membership have to pay MORE?

I've been a MR-X member since the start. Do I download stuff from their regularly? Yes, not as much recently because there really hasn't been anything there lately, but with today's update I'm all over it.

I think many of us give a lot.. asking for more is a good intention, but asking for more right now is just not plausible for some of us.

Plus you're making it seem like this site is doomed.. I don't think it is..

No. I'm hardly in a position to contribute, financially, but I did. If half of the posters on this site gave $5, that would probably make up for the lost revenue.

Jodes,
You have done all I can ask - thanks for the support mate.

The site and myself is under a little pressure right now. Business is tough - but that's across the whole music business. Hope to see this through so I can move onwards and upwards.

Being in business for yourself gets like this at times. I've run a few myself and it can be very stressful. I'd chip in if I could.. but I've got some personal things that will prevent me from spending any excess cash right now.

I do symphathize tho and hope you're able to replace the lost sponsors.

Thanks for the site. I know you and I have been at odds at times and such - but you foot the bill for this place. And for that I am grateful and respectful.
