Tommy- Voice troubles

Postby AJ » Mon Apr 02, 2007 7:18 am

I was really looking forward to tonight's Shaw/Blades concert in Akron, Ohio, but it was cancelled. It seems Tommy was having vocal troubles at sound check, and it may be serious. Doctors told him not to sing for a while. Apparently they've cancelled shows for the rest of the week to see how he will be then. I know they cancelled a show a couple weeks ago due to Tommy having laryngitis. I hope it is not serious! I'd hate to think of him not singing again! Get well soon Tommy!

I hope he gets better! I can understand his problems, i mean, singing NON-STOP!! Its gonna start to wear on ya after a while.

Well, they cancelled the Boston show for Tommy's voice problems. I hope they don't cancel all the shows this week as the Chicago and Milwaukee shows are going to be important since they are sold out.

I'm glad I saw them in DC!

His vocal problems are sounding pretty bad, he needs to give his voice a rest. They cancelled Columbus and Akrons shows, I know Akron was sold out. This could jepordize his summer tour plans if its really bad. I'm thinking they will have to postpone the rest of the Shaw/Blades shows, guess we'll see what happens. Its so sad, you know Tommy is feeling very bad.

From what I hear, they're going to have Jeff Scott Soto be a temporary fill in until Tommy's voice heals. :D

It started with a cold he caught prior to the tour. At least that is what they said in Philly when Tommy was using throat spray.

Shaw Blades

Postby lz0n78 » Wed Apr 04, 2007 2:52 am

I have heard from the venue in Akron that they have had to cancel all of this weeks concerts on the Shaw/Blades tour due to Tommy voice. Hope they plan on rescheduling....rumor told to me was that it would be in May....but no idea when.

That is truly too bad, but I do think he may be pushing it a bit much. As Ash said in the other thread, he is not 30 anymore.

He carries the vocal burden in the Current Styx shows and with Jack, of course, there are no vocal breaks.

Chicago has been rescheduled for May.

Nothing is up on the Pabst Theater website yet. I contacted them this morning and they just heard about this. I'm sure the concert will be rescheduled and they're just trying to figure out the date.

It's finally on the website for the Indianapolis show for tomorrow night. They must've added the information a few hours ago.

For those that have tickets, I wonder how they're all going to know that these shows are cancelled.

Bummer, I was looking forward to the Milwaukee show!!!!

I posted this random ridiculous (or not) thought on "Bad Picture of Tommy," but in hindsight probably fits in better here.

Regarding Tommy's unfortunate illness (and it seems a few of you have tongue-in-cheek touched on this too already)...by his own philosophy... If you finish your recording and come time to tour, if you should fall ill, shouldn't you stay home and let your band tour without you? Wouldn't it be in Jack Blades' best interest to not wait for Tommy to get better, but simply replace him and tour anyway? They could still call the show "Shaw-Blades," of course... just have the audience find maybe Larry Gowen there with Jack when they show up? If you asked Tommy, I'm sure he'd tell you that sort of arrangement worked just fine for him last time...

Sorry, gang! Just my first thought on this. Irony is cruel sometimes. :)

And mythology is a fascinating subject.

Did you know that Cabbage Patch Dolls were originally a test balloon by the government to see how the populace would react to babies born with mutations caused by nuclear fallout?

Heyyy, I'm proud of my first impression. If you can't walk into a room with a bang, don't walk in at all!

Seriously... geeeez, I don't think I really said anything THAT controversial... certainly far from the worst I've been reading here! I merely pointed out a parallel between a past incident and one occurring right now. If anyone will explain how there is no similarity between the two whatsoever... I'll apologize to them persoanlly and hug them til the tears are allll gone. Promise!

And just to clear things up, and set the record straight.. I have nothing against Tommy. Really! Picked up the new CD, liked it many times more than I expected to (I wasn't blown away by Big Bang Theory, I admit), so this is far from Tommy-bashing. Really. I promise. So if you're weeping over this, grab a hanky, take a deep breath... and smile. Nothin' but love here! :D

It's cuz of that Yes song. That's a damned high song to have to sing everywhere
:)
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I DO like it better. I like Yes and Jon Anderson, but there's something about the Shaw version that's better to me.
