An idiot's guide to Froy

Postby 7 Wishes » Sat Apr 07, 2007 4:11 pm

1. Dennis DeYoung is more talented than Jesus or the Holy Ghost, and has given God a run for His money.
2. Lawrence Gowan is Satan, and the worst musician since J.S.S. Bach (or Richard Wagner, depending on your tastes).
3. Tommy Shaw rode Dennis' coat-tails and would have been a baggage handler at Logan Airport if he hadn't joined Styx.
4. Anything Dennis DeYoung touches turns to gold.
5. The remaining members of Styx will burn in hell for all eternity for daring to perpetuate their careers once Dennis left.
6. Disagreeing with #1 through #5 will result in your being permanently placed on his shit list; this is a mistake for which there can be no amends. It will also subjugate you to page-long posts and "grammatically challenged" responses that lack coherance and are based entirely on his opinion, facts be damned.

I guess I haven't been following along between you two. Are you two married or something?

Okay, what's Froy's beef with TOMMY? Sure seems to have a real hard-on for him and JY...

Froy does love Tommy and his music. He's just bored and loves to stir up trouble on here

Technically, if I'm not mistaken, when it came to booting Dennis out of the business (band called Styx) that he co-founded very close to 4 decades ago, Tommy didn't have a vote in whether to keep him or let him go. Correct me if I am wrong, I thought there was a total of 4 votes when it came to decisions on the band:

1 vote - Dennis
1 vote - JY
1 vote - Chuck
1 vote - John's estate, which Chuck had the vote (?)

If I'm not mistaken, Tommy hasn't said anything negative about Dennis in a few years, at least in print.

I feel that Tommy does what Tommy wants to do and what's best for him. He's looking out for himself, that's MY opinion.

Wow, that's a lot of babbling and I don't even remember what the question was - LOL

Tommy's last negative thing about Dennis was in a Styxworld post in November of 2005 as they ended the first leg of the never ending tour.

Whats my beef?

Simple
Shaw always takes the easy road
He has no guts
He puts out his best solo cd ever and does not tour around it
Instead he runs back to Styx and ruins it.
BTM Dennis said he would not tour and our jaws dropped
Gee Tommy you said you would not tour because you had to be with the Yankees
Nobodys jaws dropped they went on tour and invited you back with open arms.

Now your trying to tell us you were influenced by YES?
Nice try pal it the easiest harmony money can buy.

You and Jimmy have killed the legacy that was STYX
Even if Dennis came back it would be impossible because of what you have done to the band.
Its destroyed thanks to you

BUT
Your happy so thats all that matters,

I don't think that if you polled the general populace, they would consider Styx "ruined". They would like to see them live (providing they were fans in the 70'sand 80's), and probably have no idea that Dennis is not in the band. Man, give it a rest, Froy.It just gets SOOOOOOOOO old. Live and let live!

Bravo, 7 Wishes! I wish we could all just agree to disagree on this issue. There are those of us (like me) who honestly believe that Tommy is the best thing that ever happened to Styx. And there are those who believe that the band is absolute crap without Dennis. We're all entitled to our opinions. There's no need for name-calling, right? Right?

TG, I share your admiration of Tommy. The guy has one of the most amazing voices ever; it seems to improve every year. He's also an amazing songwriter. Did you see the Damn Yankees' Uprising DVD yet? If not, you need it. It's phenomenal.
