Sterling's book...

... absolutely rocks.

What a great read. I'm nearly done and I'm really digging this. Absolutely wonderful book.
My suspicions are confirmed that Dennis (not Tommy or JY, Froy) is the reason that Dennis is not with the band.
I love Dennis' talent, but my God (can beat up your god?) what an egomaniac! Talk about NOT a team player.

JY and Tommy- way to go for getting on with your lives. Dennis, you need to realize no man is an island. You
are a brilliant talent both vocal wise and have been song wise and even literary-wise, but as a band member
you leave a lot to be desired and I can totally see why the band moved on without you.

This book so confirmed everything I've ever heard about Dennis as a working partner.

Also, Derek Sutton SHOULD'VE told Suzanne to butt the hell out.
Suzanne is Styx's Yoko.

Once Derek was kicked out (by DeYoung) THAT'S when things started going awry. Very much like when The Beatle's Manager died in 67.

Great friggin' book Sterling.

Do Journey Next!!!

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

The funny thing is that when I read the book, I got a more balanced view of the world but I can see where someone who is already leaning one way or the other can point to things and say, "See! I told you it was <insert person here>'s fault!"

Well, I've already finished the book and I don't get the feeling it was all Dennis' fault at all. I think they're all a little fucked in the head. It's even pointed out that problems still exist in Styx to this day, by Glen and Chuck no less. Maybe not to the extent as with Dennis, he obviously was more vocal than the others. There are some in the Styx circle that are saying that Tommy is the new Dennis.
But as I've pointed out before. Even without Dennis they'll find some reason to piss and moan about one another.

Never said it was ALL Dennis' fault. I said the guy was tough to work with and was an egomaniac. Maybe if he'd been a bit more gracious and not so self-centered he could've worked WITH the other guys rather than having the other guys working FOR him.
Had he been easier to deal with, he'd still be there, but seriously, the guy made it ten times more difficult for Styx and that's why he's not there. Had he been more of a team guy, he'd still be there.
Each band member was pretty blatant in their negative opinions of Dennis.
I don't really think they're "all a little fucked in the head". They each had a different vision, but where the 4 would compromise and would work more together, one in particular kind of felt it all revolved around him, which is totally not the case. Also, for Dennis to fire Sutton because his wife stuck her nose in where she shouldn't have was the classic puss move. Sutton did SO much for that band and Dennis just fires him because his wife didn't know when to shut up. Geez...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
