What Jack Blades said about a Damn Yankees Reunion Tour

I interviewed Jack last Saturday. The entire interview will be available at www.classicrockrevisted.com very soon. However, I wanted to give you a sneak preview of what Jack said when I asked him about a Damn Yankees Reunion tour......

Jack: "There is nothing in the works. I think it would be so great to do a Night Ranger, Nugent, and STYX tour. [Tommy and I] could come out during Ted's part and do some Damn Yankees stuff. Shaw Blades could open. I mean why not be like my buddy Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead. He said that is what the Dead does. They play a show but the opening acts are all their separate things. Like he does Planet Drum and Bob Weir does RatDog. Those are all the opening acts and then at the end they do Grateful Dead. I think that would be so much fun. It would be fun for the fans too."

Dang it...how fun would that be...........Keep you fingers crossed and just mabye it will happen!!

That would be really awesome! I would go see that show no matter what the price and no matter how far I would have to Travel!

Froy, he had laryngitis, for Christ's sake. I've had to cancel at least a half a dozen shows in the past 20 years becayse of it, and music isn't even my full-time job. Hell, it's barely my part-time job. His voice is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and he has NEVER SOUNDED BETTER, you schmuck. They would put a HELL OF A LOT MORE asses in the seats than Dennis with DY and Ted, that's for damned sure. This tour WILL happen in the next couple of years, and I am going to fly to Chicago just to rub it in. Almighty, dude. Give it a rest. It gets SO OLD. DENNIS IS NOT IN STYX ANYMORE BUT THE BAND IS STILL HUGE AND HAS A MASSIVE FOLLOWING. Tommy has taken care of his voice and will continue to tour into his 60's.

Styx still huge and has a massive following? No. They're doing just fine, but massive is nowhere near the word I'd use. Heck, they're nowhere near the '97 tour which didn't do as well as the '96 one. Like most of their contemporaries, bands like Styx who still enjoy some success generally play 1500 - 5000 seat venues depending on the market.

Having said that, the whole DY/Styx/Night Ranger tour has been talked about since ... well ... forever. I just don't see it happening moreso for logistics than anything else. Would it be a good bill? Sure, but I don't see Styx starting to embrace the 'Dead' vibe.
