Question...

Styx really introduced me to classic rock several years ago and i experiment with different bands every time. It started with Journey and can we say wow? Then came REO Speedwagon, Boston, Kansas, the list goes on! But now, i wanted to know what most thought about "Rush"? I like the sound from the samples i have heard on iTunes and I wonder if i should buy a CD or something.
What do you think??

Is this a real question? Seriously, Rush is arguably better than most of the bands you listed ... and I'm a fan of Styx and Journey.
Start with a hits package (there are many) - there's a 1 CD collection called "The Spirit of Radio". If you like that, start buying albums.

Be aware that Rush is fundamentally different than many of the "Classic Rock" bands they get lumped in with (like those you mentioned.) The songwriting, singing, and playing is a bit more...unorthodox. Particularly in their mid-to-late 70's phase. But once you've acquired a taste for their music, there's so much treasure to mine.
Allan is right, it's probably best to start with a hits package, though most of them stop around the early 90s in terms of discography. They have a bunch of live albums out as well, which usually span several studio albums worth of material.
Just out of curiosity, which iTunes samples did you like most?

Damn right! At least Rush is still making energized, vital music and sound like they give a crap despite the fact that they're all 54 years old. Wish Styx could do the same...

I wouldn't start with it though if you're just getting into Rush.

2112, Hemispherse, Moving Pictures, Signals. Probably NOT in that order.

You simply MUST go see them live at least once in your lifetime. I think the new CD sounds a lot like their older stuff (good thing). Lyrically it's pretty dark though.
The cool thing about Rush is that they get along so well with each other - been together for close to 35 years now. You never see debates like what you always see here.
You won't be disappointed!

Glad to hear it. It's a great intro to the band and you can start to figure out what you like.
