DDY Canadian Release

DDY's new bilingual song has been released to CHOM in Montreal today (and probably a bunch of other stations). They'll be playing it later on this morning. The DJ says it's a "dandy". I'm waiting to hear it now.

Okay, more news. I emailed the DJ about when they'll be playing the song and he told me (on air!) that DJ Tim Morgan will be premiering the song at 4:00 p.m. Montreal time today. So, be listening if you're interested.

Click on the "Listen Now" button on the chom website to get the live stream.

I was not expecting to like this much. But it is quite good. Hard rock guitar solo. Vocal duet actually works well.

Love the intro! :)

(DDY will be on CHOM radio 5/4 at 8:30 a.m. ET. )

Bugsy

OH. MY. GOD! It's just plain wonderful! I'm listening to it now.

It's the title track, called 100 Years from Now, same name as the CD, and blasts This Time Next Year into outer space! Powerful melody, guitar riffs, the whole nine yards!! He did it again!!!!

Apparently Dennis will be in the CHOM studio tomorrow morning, as said above. I'll be recording that too.

Agreed, it worked better than I thought. It takes nothing away from DDY. NICE solo, eh? Can't wait to see THAT live ....

Yep its a good one
100 Years from now.
The original name of the cd was going to be something different
I will see if it ok to post it
The version with just Dennis is even better IMO
I hope that see's the lite of day,

Music starts off with an accordian intro or a synthesized accordian intro, once Dennis starts singing it veeres toward a ballad and then quickly turns into a rocker (which is good because after the first 10 seconds I was worried). The general theme/moral of the song is a little cheesey. Guitar work was really good. Chorus is catchy...

I don't think its anywhere near his best work (though, its not bad). I would have like to have heard this song as a DDY solo to really guage what it was like.

I guess I'll have to wait until mid-June, like everyone else. :-(

Looking forward to it!

I'd like to hear the "just Dennis" version too. Maybe we'll get to hear it at concerts when LaPointe isn't around? I guess we'll have to see what happens ....

It's on right now.

Eric LaPointe ruins this song. His voice...... sucks!

This needs to be a duet with Tommy... not this schmoe.

Musically this is EXACTLY what I thought it would be when I heard the demo. I absolutely am in love with this song.

The guitar solo is very good. I think Tom needs to be given some props. He's routine slammed on this forum for not having chops. I think this shows that the man can play.

It is a great song. Like everyone else said, it does start off a little slow but picks up.

Eric's voice does sound a little rough in it. It would be interesting to hear it with someone else or even Dennis alone.

Does Eric do the guitar work in this or is it Tommy or even Glen :)?

Its not Glen. But I was also going to ask if it was Eric doing the guitar work.

I'm with Ash on this. The tune is kinda catchy, although I will have to hear it a few more times before I can make a real opinion on it. Kinda folksy at the beginning.

Eric LaPointe does nothing for me on it, actually detracts from it. The mix when he is singing also seems all wrong for me. He's to overpowering on it.

I am really looking forward to "This Time Next Year" when I will be listening to a brand new STYX CD and Froy will be eating crow and rambling on about how Styx is done. He has been saying the same thing since 1999. The new STYX CD will put DDY to shame.....again!!!

Tommy Shaw and James Young thats who,

Tommy...what do you think of DDY's new song? " Who? Oh, the guy that used to be a part of our group (Laughs). Sorry, I haven't thought of that guy forever. Is he still doing music? Listen, I have nothing against the guy, it's just that I don't really care for the type of music he writes."
