On Dennis:

Panozzo: I haven’t heard any response from him. The whole thing is a misfortune. I’ve known Dennis since we were kids. It doesn’t make me feel any better that he’s not in the band, but he’s gone his direction, and we’ve tried to stay true to ours.

We just have one more question that fans will demand we ask: Is there any way Dennis De-Young will someday reunite with the band? Panozzo: Before any more of us die, I would hope that it could happen. Every year that it doesn’t happen is another year that goes by. And if you wait too long, who will care?

On Kilroy:

There’s nothing wrong with the product, but I think it was geared toward 9- and 10-year-old kids as opposed to 19- and 20-year-olds. When my nephew goes, “Uncle Chuckie, I really like Mr. Roboto!” I want to say, “Chris, when your voice changes 10 years from now, I want to hear you say the same thing.”

I think that's pretty accurate. The other day I had Mr. Roboto playing in the car and all of a sudden I heard this little voice (that wasn't mine) from the backseat. I looked in the rearview and sure enough, my 9 year old was singing away to his heart's content to Mr. Roboto ( ... and right on pitch the little bugger!!). :-)

Hmmm.....dancing to a little different tune regarding Dennis.

As to Roboto, Dennis a long time ago gave into its high camp factor. He is also aware that every kid in his audience absolutely loves it when he sings it, so he dishes it out with a lot of theater and fun. I think that is one reason he has brought the Roboto mask along.

Go Chuck! It's great that he's getting the media attention right now. I'm happy for him. As for the Dennis remarks, I think they're pretty accurate. It would make sense to want to bridge gaps before it's...too late, but then again, not all rifts are fixable. I guess time will tell.

As for Roboto/Kilroy, I LOVED that whole album when I was 12, enough so that it made me buy every album Styx ever recorded before that time. Now, I carry a certain nostalgia for KWH, but can only *really* enjoy a few songs on it.

There are a lot of teens that love the song so I am not sure its a 9 or 10 year old thing. Its definately not aimed at 40 somethings but then again, 40 somethings don't buy music the same way teens do.

Teens actually buy music?

On another note, does anyone else find it exasperating that with all the other aspects of CP's life and work that could be discussed in threads like this one, it just keeps coming back to DDY again and again?

Well, isn't that what this board is all about?

Oh sure, throw perspective at me.

Yeah, I guess that was kind of a rhetorical question.

Sigh.
