30 second clips from DDY's new CD

Postby blt man » Tue Jun 19, 2007 4:41 am

I purchased the CD in Canada here: http://www.archambault.ca/store/Product.asp?mscssid=2D6357431ED1628D40C7B282AC6B68EF&sku=001988289&type=1
They seemed to offer the best price. Also, they have posted 30 second clips of each song that you guys and gals will enjoy to listen to (or pick apart).

Tough to tell from 30 second clips, but some of it sounds really promising (the cnn track and others). Sounds like he borrows a bit of Prelude 12 on one of the tracks. Nice nod to the past there.

It sounds promising. The production sounds better than usual for a DeYoung solo album (the guitars actually have a bit of meat to them).

Cool.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

It sounds okay from the clips. Most of the songs sound like they would fit into a play. I'm not saying thats a bad thing for him. It's what he does best these days. Much better then My God and the other new songs from the live CD.

Listening to the clip of "I believe in you" it "almost" sounds like Glen is in the backing vocals. Could it be Glen or is that Tommy and Hank or even Dennis doing the backing vocals?

Other than that, the cd sounds good from the 30 second clips.

From the 30 second clips, IMO, only Rain sounds like this. Maybe the first couple of verses of the title song too but everything else seems more classic Dennis.

I like what I'm hearing from those 30 second clips. Turn off CNN really sounds good. I just ordered my copy.

Note to JY and Tommy - Available: a lead singer and keyboardist who can still rock. Who still has pipes of gold. And who people RECOGNIZE! And who wrote most of your hits.

That would be none other than Kevin Chalfant on backing vocals.

This might help. This is from his production company Clique Records.

Just from the 30 second clips it sounds better than what he has done lately but to me still sounds like a lounge crooner with a so-so band. From what I heard, this still sounds weak to me. I will take Cyclorama to this anyday.

Hard to judge from such short clips, but there are some interesting moments. Some cool tips of the hat to his old-school sensibilities...the fact that a couple of them let 30 seconds go by before a vocal comes in is a good sign.

This certainly has the potential to be the first DDY solo album where I like more of the material than not. We'll see.

I have heard this cd all the way through
Wow what a statement
Dennis DeYoung's best solo cd ever
No doubt about it.

Save Me is the best song on the cd
This Time Next Year is on fire.
I Believe In You is another great tune
This is only the import the US version is going to be different.

Yes Kevin is the surprise I was talking about,
this guys harmonies are better than Shaw and JY
When you get the inner sleeve you can see who the players were on this cd,
I love it.

I've ordered the CD Froy.

Just want to give the entire cd a listen before I cut any real judgement. Making a judgement on 30 seconds of a song without hearing it in its entirty would just be wrong.

I totally expect to enjoy what Dennis has put together, but will need to take a listen first.

I have tried buying from I-tunes(other country),but it can't be done.
You would think that in these days and ages this would be no problem.
I want to buy stuff from Europe but no way.Shoot.
But hey ,maybe, since You say it is available here in Canada,I may 'borrow' some of my sons allowance money. He is school right now.

No BS here my friend
This cd is top notch
And the best part
There are more new songs on the US release comming.
I really do not dislike any song on this cd
There are a few average tunes but nothing bad.
The River To Rubicon is awesome very Pink Floyd sounding,
There is even a Prelude 12 intro clone .
You will like this cd no doubt.
Even Chicago Styx is dumb founded about this one

Not true Froy. From what I have heard Cyclorama is 10 times better then this CD. A Prelude clone?? Did we need another one?? How about something that sounds new?? This is sounding like a bad attempt to keep up with Styx. We will have a new Styx CD in less then a year!!!
