When I hear a Christmas Song

Postby styxfanNH » Mon Jul 16, 2007 11:25 pm

Does anyone else think it is odd that "When I hear a Christmas Song" didn't make it on the cd. I know that it's seasonal, but I would think it should be on an album and not just a single.

Now, I'm a big Dennis fan and all, but honestly... I was a little disappointed in the Christmas song. It was okay, don't hate it or anything. If it was a cut on a Christmas ALBUM, I woulda been fine. But if you make ONE Christmas song... I dunno. I wanted a little more uumph. But in any case,I think it would have definately been out of place on 100 Years...

I don't dislike this song. Just am sort of meh towards it. I agree. It should be on a collection of Christmas music, which I wish Dennis would do someday. A voice that beautiful should record some Christmas classics.

It most certainly does not belong on "One Hundred Years from Now."

I LOOOOOOVE "When I Hear A Christmas Song". Last Christmas, my entire family was over - we had ages ranging from early teens to my great aunt Phyllis (who is 93!). I sang "When I Hear A Christmas Song" acapella in front of the tree for the whole family and everyone loved it. Even the teens asked me to sing it again. I think it would be a good addition to any album.

Christmas song

Postby cittadeeno23 » Tue Jul 17, 2007 6:22 am

If I sang Acapella in front of a crowd, that crowd would disperse quite rapidly!
Anyway, it's a nice Christmas song, but it doesn't belong on 100 years.
100 years is the hardest edge solo album Denny has ever done. I like it just the way it is!

Its a good song, he also has the unreleased version of I'll be Home for Christmas which isn't too shabby. Did you ever see the video on YouTube of Dennis and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins do their duet?

Dude -

I am one of DDY's most ardent supporters and think yes he was 80% of the reason for Styx's success. He is a better vocalist and songwriter than just about anyone out there...

But even I thought that song was gay as hell.

What gives? That wasn't very nice. I'll have you know that I have a wonderful family that has helped me through some horrible times. They are respectful in every step of the way. Those teenagers really got into the spirit of the song. One of them even recorded me on his cell phone.

But back to the matter at hand, "When I Hear a Christmas Song" is an extremely powerful song. You insulting it and calling it "gay" makes me wonder if you've ever heard it. Do you think that "Sleigh Ride" or "Chestnuts Roasting of an Open Fire" are gay songs to?

I don't want to start a war with anybody. I just thought calling a song "gay" was needlessly rude - especially a ong lke that.
