Thanks, Jimmy! That picture of the girl grabbing Joe Elliott's leg was hilarious! It reminded me of the girl who jumped onstage and grabbed Dennis on that CITA video. Neither looked like she was willing to let go.

Styx were first out. In eight years they've slid from headliners to topping multi-bills to joint bills to...opening act. I imagine the fact that Dennis DeYoung is no longer with them is pretty well known now....even to the casual music fan. That...plus the fact that Styx has been on the road almost non-stop since their well publicized falling out with Dennis in 1999. AND for the last couple of years DeYoung has been touring on his own. All of the above are no doubt contributing to the slide. I'm sure Styx were just happy to get on this higher profile tour with the DL boys since DL stills draws them in pretty well.

I think that pretty much hits the nail on the head. JY & Co. never really tried to advertise the fact that DDY had left, and it took a few years for the word to get around about this Gowan clown. I agree that Styx does itself no favors by being on the road constantly, since it only dilutes the power of the brand name.

Look at The Who...when they regrouped to tour in 1989, they sold out stadiums. Now they've had several 'farewell' tours since then, and are lucky to sell out 5,000-seat ampitheaters.

Of course The Who only have 2 guys left in the band. Sound like any other band we know?

I've always admired the fact that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page record and tour as "Plant - Page" not Led Zeppelin. But I guess that's just me.
