Summer Movies You've Seen

What Summer movies have you seen so far? What did you think of them? Which would you recommend?

OK, I know its off topic but we could use some fun stuff here to...

Ratatouie - OK kid flick,
Live Free or Die Hard - Best of the series, best summer action movie yet.
Harry Potter - OK, too much stuff left out, but follows the movie scripts.
Spider Man 3 - Biggest disappointment
Pirates - Nice way to rap up the trilogy, leaves some room for more.

Did not see Ratatouie or Harry Potter but I agree with you on all the rest. Transformers was well done and most I think would enjoy it, especially if you grew up with it.

Transformers.. Kicked whitie ass big time!

Fantastic Four 2 - Better then the 1st, Spin off hopefully coming soon!

Harry Potter - It was good, a bit darker then the rest.

Got to see Die Hard 4 and the Simpsons Movie of course!

I've seen:

Potter: Loved it. Great effects
Pirates: Ditto.
Spidey: Meh.
Knocked Up: Hysterical

I also recently rented "The 40 Year Old Virgin," which I had not seen before, and L'edMAO.

My husband really wants to see Transformers, so I guess that'll be next on the list!

Ratatouille- (B+) Liked it, but very predictable
Transformers-(B-) Ok movie, good script, acting ok, special effects outstanding
Fantastic Four 2(B) -Good, but not as good as the first. Glacitus was VERY disappointing
Live Free or Die HArd (A) Best of the movies in the series. I am not a Bruce Willis Fan either, but like his Die Hard movies.
Spiderman 3-(A) Best of the three, a little too out there, cut about 10 minutes, and Bam!!
Pirates 3, (B+) Not has as good as the first, but better than the second.
Evan Almighty (C+) Not as near as funny as Bruce Almighty
Oceans 13 (B) Better than 12, not as good as 11
Shrek the 3rd-(B) Liked it a lot at first, but now I would rank it last of the 3
Surfs Up-(B) Funny, but has a very "I have seen something like this before" feel to it

Going to see The Harry Potter tonight-ERIC

I forgot about Shrek the Third! D'oh!

It was cute, typcial Shrek film. 1 & 2 were better.

I forgot about SHrek also, I agree 1 & 2 were better. They went for visual gags and cornball stuff this time.

Also saw Oceans 13. Was pretty good. Again 11 was better and 12 wasn't.

Oooh this is fun. I disagree with your placements, Eric. But I appreciate anyone who likes harry Potter movies. LOL

For me, at least based on my opinions at the time I saw them last:

First - 3rd (but...it was the first of its kind - and just blew me away with the effects and story as a whole, so it is also sorta the first favorite in a way, y'know?)
Second - 1st
Third - 2nd
Fourth - 4th
Fifth - OK, tied for 3rd - I liked that it was marginally "scary."

I went to the Sky Vu Drive-In Theater on the South side of Monroe, Wisconsin last night and watched Transformers And Live Free Or Die Hard.

Transformers was good. I give a B+

Live Free Or Die Hard was also good, but, IMHO, the first Die Hard is still the best.. 8)

Hey, why didn't you call me?? I love going to the drive-in. Actually I go to the one in Jefferson (WI), it shouldn't be too far from you :)

How are you doing DeeJay?? I hope you're doing good :)

As for movies, a few weeks ago I saw "Fantastic Four" and then "1408". FF was okay and I'm still trying to figure out parts of the "1408" movie :)

I'm hoping to catch a few movies this week and next week. I enjoy reading everyone's viewpoints on the movies :)

I am a fan of the first movies in the series it seems. The rest are almost always disappointments. So, no Pirates 3 for me. Ditto Spiderman 3. I will catch them on TV or DVD.

That said, I am a huge fan of Pixar movies. ALL of them.

Ratatouille was terrific. The short at the beginning of it is worth the price of admission alone.

Bugsy

Last movie I saw was Transformers and it was pretty good. After reading many forums about it, thought it might be a flop because of Bay doing it, but it turned out pretty good. Planning on seeing Oceans 13 next. Another movie coming out that is a Tv series to movie remake that I hope is not a flop is Get Smart. Mel Brooks is co-writer, so it should be good.

Speaking of sequels bugsy, there is a part 3 of Rush Hour coming out, also a part two of Nantional Treasure. There are talks of Beverly Hills Cop 4, but nothing big on it yet.

If you are interested in Get Smart, here is the link to get smart. http://www.getsmartmovie.com
If you are interested in Rush Hour 3, here is the link to it, http://www.rushhourmovie.comIf you are interested in Nantional Treasure 2, here is the link http://http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/nationaltreasure/
Beverly Hills Cop 4, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910842/

Thanks

Lets not forget the Star Trek saga is going to continue as well. Part 11 is in the works.

That is what I like about the new one, it was scarier and darker than any of the others.
#4, I loved the characterization in the story, but special effects were not top notch, and the ending sucked (maybe a different director could have pulled off a better ending) But the last 1/4 of the movie, just about ruined the movie.
#3 had the best story and action, and was paced good.
1 and 2 were good, but a little too kiddy-ERIC

Hi, Suite. How Are You? I'm doing good.

Yep, Drive-Ins are cool. Too bad some members of the Winnebago county board don't think so. They turned down a request from a Buffalo Grove couple to build and open a drive-in theater just west of the town of Winnebago.

According to Drive-ins.com, Highway 18 Drive-In in Jefferson is approximately 56 miles from where I live. The Sky Vu In Monnroe is around 35-40 and the Midway Drive-In in Dixon, Illinois is 35. The Sky Vu is a nice little Drive-In with a great family atmosphere. Plus, the homemade pizza and cheeseburgers are really good. :D

I plan to see the Simpsons movie next.. Who knows, I might make the stretch to Jefferson to see the Simpsons. 8)

Anyone go see the new Adam Sandler movie "Chuck and Larry"? Was curious to how good it was. From the commercials it looks good.

Sorry, but it was REALLY bad. And I usually like Adam Sandler too. The only funny scenes were in the commercial. I saw it Friday night in a packed theater and at least a dozen people left before it was over.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I've heard bad things about it. Good thing I waited for a little feedback before taking the wife. Sandlers definitly hit and miss. Little Nicky anyone?

Curious though...any Styx songs in the movie?

Has anyone seen Hairspray? It looks hilarious. I saw the one in the '80s but it was a bit too - you know. I really am looking forward to seeing this coming out on DVD.

Hairspray was good if you like musicals.

Bourne was excellent

Saw Spidey 3 and thought it dragged a little bit in spots. The first two were better, IMO. I've meant to see Die Hard all summer and managed to miss it. Really looking forward to seeing Bourne!

LOL! You liked that one too, did you? My son, sitting next to me, was wondering why mom was laughing her head off. Probably figured I'd finally lost it. :-)

Ha.I was in the same boat with my son.(Simpsons)
I laughed and he shrugged.
Great fun.
