What if "Roboto" was a play?

Strictly in the realm of what if...

If Roboto became a play, what songs or portions of songs would be included and how would they connect to a story line that follows the Kilroy themes?

then it'd be where it belongs.

Thematically these work:
Borrowed Time - already in the Kilroy movie, and fits the theme ("better times" type of song)
Some of the Kilroy album is a given, but definitely "Mr. Roboto", "High Time", "Don't Let It End", "Haven't We Been Here Before"
Rockin' the Paradise - set piece; big number
The Best of Times - ballad piece; possibly between two lovers but lyrics could be rewritten to fit another theme
Grand Illusion - for talking about the fun of rock, but also ties into not believing what you see and hear
Put Me On - could work (more of a Dr. Righteous tempting; make it more of a "devil" song song "I'm a madman screaming in your living room")

If it will be more of a Styx musical, more hits will be worked in. CSA is a given on that front.

Different thread ... this thread is for the "what if" Kilroy/Roboto was made into a musical.

But had the Kilroy album not happened and they followed the 5 year plan which was documented in Sterling's book,I still say Styx would have ended, but it would have just been a few years later. The tension was already there. If they didn't kill each other, the change in music would have.

the only way "robotto" would work, is if it were expanded and given a full storyline/treatment. if anybody read 'whispers in the night' (i think our lt. vanish might be able to assist you with this one), you'll know what i mean. it's a wonderful fan-fiction piece that expands upon the whole kilroy concept, and really fleshes out the characters. i haven't read it in prob 8 or 9 years, but it might still be around.

My thoughts exactly.

I kind of thought it played out in congress with Tipper Gore and company grilling Frank Zappa and Dee Snyder about rock lyrics during the mid 80s and then John Denver (ala Jonathan Chance), instead of coming ot Tipper and Al's rescue defended free speech.

IMO, its audience would skew slightly older and they would have less fans.
