Not a full blown reunion. Michael Anthony isn't there. Eddie absolutely hates him. They even went so far to remove his picture from the album covers.

At least Styx never did that.

Full blown reunion tour should involve both Sammy and Michael.

Don't forget that when they reunited with Sammy, Eddie wouldn't even let Michael play on the new cuts and receive any royalties for them.

I am a big fan of VH with Diamond Dave, but I found that press conference to be more than slightly bizarre. It just seemed sort of awkward and like, I dunno...... one wrong thing said and they would all be at each other's throats.

My nephew and I have a bet going as to when this will all break down.

I saw that about airbrushing Michael Anthony out of logos and album covers, too. Don't give Current Styx any ideas!!

Well Styx did Airbrush DDY out of a T Shirt Design (Paradise Theater era?) but that's been the extent of it..

Actually, according to Andrew, due to fan complaints, the site has restored the original Van Halen album covers.

But it's not like there's a ton of Styx albums out there that have DDY on the cover.. I know of one (A&M Classics) and it's one of the 1st albums you see when you go to Styxworld.. And there's DDY still on it!

Yup. I found that one funny. It was a Cornerstone era shirt, tho, if memory serves me correctly. It was sold on the 2001 tour with Bad Co./Joe Stark/Billy Squier. I bought the set of stickers which has that cropped out, too.

Well, unlike what Ozzy did or what Eddie may have been trying to do, it's a lot harder to erase DDY's contributions to songs. Talk about noticeable if you re-record them! LOL And in 2001, when they did it on that shirt, it was still lawsuit country.

First, Perry has zero interest in returning to Journey. He has said it himself, even in spite of the remaining members of Journey claiming that the door is always open for him. Gee, it must be a revolving door, because singers keep getting hit in the ass with it! Guess Perry is smarter than anyone is giving him credit for, huh?

As for a DDY/Styx reunion... Ain't happening either. They've split up 3 times and, although the 3rd reunion was the "charm" for me (I finally got to see them live!), I believe it was also the last straw. I'd much rather have them apart and each happy, than together and miserable. Each time I listen to either KWH or BNW, I am reminded that their hearts weren't in it as a whole.

Let's face it... We're a lot older and so are they. We either decide to appreciate the past & move on to create new things, or flounder in our own self denial and keep trying to recreate history. Like most divorces, parting is usually permanent. We've just got to become mature enough to accept it. :::shrug:::

BTW, I think this VH semi-reunion is nothing but a farce. This one will go down in flames just like the 2004 shows with Sammy. Even though Eddie seems to be much healthier and sober this time around, they don't have the trademark VH (read "Mike Anthony") background vocals to help carry DLR's deteriorating voice. I saw him on his tour with Sammy several years ago and it wasn't pretty. If Dave's been taking better care of himself and has been working with a voice coach, maybe he could pull it off, but we ain't getting those wonderful background vocals. I'd much rather spend my money on seeing The Other Half again than this circus act. Poor Wolfie... I have faith in this kid, but there's no way he's gonna be able to carry this one on his own at his age/experience level.

Remember, that was after the "divorce" so it is quite possible that Styx isn't allowed to sell anything with Dennis's likeness or they may be open for a lawsuit. It's not always done maliciously, sometimes it's the law.

What VH did was just plain stupid and juvenile. You don't edit album covers on the albums that the performer actually contributed to!

The grouping of any bands' fandom is comprised of many types (and levels) of "oddities." Journey is not the only one, but lately has been the loudest one due to the latest fiasco. I do recall many Styx fans turning into "Tommy & JY Jihadists" after the split w/ DDY, as well as those firmly belonging to the "Drive-By DDY Shooters" (credit for those phrases are given to Strangegrey, of course).

It's all relative. I'm just glad I belong to the grouping that can tell the difference.

I've been joking about this very thing with Styx here for over a year now!! Don't think for a minute that JY wouldn't do it if he thought he wouldn't have his socks sued off by DDY. I wish I had artistic talent...I have an idea of DDY's giant head on the cover of PO8 being Photoshopped out in favor of one of those Easter Island statues.

There IS some precedent for this. Bassist Bob Daisley wanted more $$$ from Ozzy after playing on his first two albums. So what did his witch wife Sharon do? She had Bob's bass lines ERASED and replaced by some other guy, then the albums were re-released. Daisley could no longer get $$$ because he technically didn't play on the album....

This is like communism, where the future is already known...and it is the past that is being rewritten.

I don't remember any fans taking it so personally as to open up blogs to *force* the band to take some form of action or another or discredit the band in the public eye because they were so personally impacted by the actions. Sad and pathetic.

All it takes is 10 minutes of reading in that group to realize there are a lot of mentally unbalanced folk there.... Deano being first and foremost on the list of mental cases.

And now with nowhere else to go in their sad lives, they come over here and try to spur Journey converstation.

Hey, whoa, I'm not *defending* anyone here, just stating that every group/singer has their share of over-zealous fans in one form or another. And, for the record, Journey fans, as well as Van Halen fans, Leppard fans, Bon Jovi fans, Night Ranger/Damn Yankees fans, etc., have been among these boards for a long time now. I post on quite a few of them from time to time, including the Journey board, does that make me a mental case?

The mention of Journey here within this forum was brief and included within the context of Van Halen *and* Styx -- all bands who have changed band members over the years. I understand that the subject of Journey can be a bit too heated sometimes in many cases, but is that any reason for you to single me out when I am clearly not posting in an unbalanced manner? I've seen/heard plenty of fans who went pretty over the top, when their favorite members weren't being treated as the fan perceived that he/she should have been, and the fan got a little too personally involved in one way or another. But, since this is the Internet, I can happily go on my merry way for a while until it blows over or read another thread that is of more interest to me. "Mark all topics read" also goes a long way to saving my sanity!

It sounds like someone in particular has got your panties/briefs in a bunch, so take it up with him directly.
