Were there no singles released from Man of Miracles & Serpent Is Rising? Seems a bit odd.

Just counting blessings that these were not the last two Styx albums, ever.

"Serpent" had "Young Man" as a single, and "Miracles" had "Lies".. nothing charted..

There's also a chance that "Winner Take All" was also issued from "Serpent", but all I can find is that it was a B-side to "You Need Love". It's possible that it was a double A-side single release, but there's no way I can confirm that..

I don't have much love for MoM, but I think "Rock N Roll Feeling" should have been a hit. It had a great hook and that whole early-70s Grand Funk/Humble Pie thing going on. Coulda been a contender...

I can see that with "Rock and Roll Feeling". I think part of the reason that there werent any additional singles from "Miracles" was because of the belated success of "Lady" in late '74.

I also could have seen "Havin' A Ball" as a single, too. "Southern Woman" would actually be my personal first choice as a single, but I'm not sure if the subject matter would have washed on '70s AM radio.

They're only listing the songs that charted..

Although I have seen that singles list before, I am always surprised by two things. Tommy only had 1 top ten single he wrote for Styx. And the fact that "Don't Let It End" charted so high.

As to singles from those two albums, Winner Take All and 22 Years had the most potential from Serpent -- Rock and Roll Feeling and maybe Golden Lark from Miracles. Young Man and Southern Woman are two of my favorites from these.

There were, but they tanked. In fact after 'Serpent is Rising' RCA lost faith in the band to such an extent that they cut the budget for 'Man of Miracles' tremendously. They basically only let them record another album because of contractual obligation, but they weren't really behind Styx at RCA, which meant that Wooden Nickel couldn't do much for them. If "Lady" hadn't done what it did, more or less through a lucky fluke, MoM would have been Styx' last album. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

"Don't Let It End" is the only top 10 hit from them that I'm pretty sure I've never heard on the radio(I came in as a fan kinda late in the game). I haven't heard "Best Of Times" much, either, but it actually did have some classic rock airplay several years back.

As for "22 Years", I've always kinda wondered if maybe they originally had planned on it being a single, since they had J.Y. and Dennis share lead, and John C. wrote it.

If "Lady" hadn't done what it did, more or less through a lucky fluke, MoM would have been Styx' last album. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

Ahhh, that idiot ballad writer! What was he thinking??

To think. That masterpiece of an album, Man of Miracles, might have been their last, triumphant farewell.
