1) If I am a shortish guy (say 5'7"), where is the best place to sit (or stand while music is playing) in this theatre (See page http://www.rosetheatre.ca/RoseTheatreBrampton.pdf

The theatre is broken up into 4 tiers (the second tier only has 2 rows).
Assuming the only seats left I am interested in is one in the 7th row centre of the first tier, a few in the 3rd and 4th rows in the corners of the first tier, a couple of seats in the corner in the second tier, and a few seats in the centre of the third tier. Since the first tier appears to be all one level, will my height factor in?

2) Have any of you ever gone to a concert alone? My wife can't go and I find it strange that I am considering going myself.

I go to concerts alone all the time. Not all of my friends are into the music that I am and I will be damned if I am going to miss a good concert.

I've never been to this venue but the best place to see any show is at the stage, so for me the closest seat that will allow me to get there is the best seat.

I go to shows that my husband doesn't want to attend all the time, its not bad, Styx fans are a friendly bunch of people. I go with my girlfriends or meet them there or just go by myself.

If you are referring to DDY concert on Sept 26 at Rose Theatre, Brampton, I'll fly there alone from Italy to see the it!
So... no worries if you are considering going yourself.

I actually <B>love</B> going to concerts alone! It does seem a little strange to do anything sociable by yourself, but when I'm by myself I can zone out to the band and not have to worry about "talking to anyone".

Sometimes it might be hard to save your spot if you have to go throw a wiz though.

Also, I've found that when you buy tickets, quite often you have better choices if you're just buying one ticket. Since most people do not go to a concert alone, you're more likely to get a "stray" good ticket.

Can't answer your venue question, sorry. I'm sure you'll have a killer time!

I went to see Julian Lennon back in the 80s by myself. I was surrounded by screaming little girls, so I felt a bit out of place, but not uncomfortable. The biggest joke was going to buy the ticket, when the guy found out I was going solo, he laughed and said dude I can get you right up front. Cue the spotlight on me (remember Steve Martin in the lonely guy, You want a table by YOURSELF).
You will have a great time, trust me nobody notices that kind of stuff.

I got a front row ticket to the Halifax DDY concert because I was alone. Same thing for the Gatineau concert and one of the PDA concerts in Montreal - front row. You can get the BEST tickets if you're only looking for one.

At a lot of STYX concerts it is okay to rush the stage. I would recommend an aisle seat as close to the stage as possible. That way, as soon as the lights go down, leave your seat and head right for the front.
