REO played a benefit concert last night at the House of Blues in Chicago. Tickets were only $15. This band is on the money right now, they sounded great. It was nice to hear 4 new songs played from their new album, plus they played Golden Country which IMO is the best REO song ever. I had a blast of a time, I don't think REO has ever played the HOB, and it was cool seeing them there.

I always found it funny that Styx toured with REO for the fact that JY and Tommy wanted to get away from songs like Babe and Best of Times, but REO's ballads always get the largest crowd reaction and singing along with. For some reason JY thinks Styx is more comparable to Rush than REO.

Decent setlist. Would've MUCH rathered they do Another Lifetime somewhere...but oh well. I wasn't there.

Is this a REO forum now? OK, caused they toured with Styx. Kevin sucks now anyways. His voice is sounding more and more like Lawrences, and he talks way to much. The smile is annoying too.

Since there is no REO forum on this site, why not. I've seen Styx lately and REO lately, and let me tell you REO sounds a lot better right now. I thought Kevin's voice last night sounded pretty good.

Can't really compare the short show Styx is doing now with a full REO show. In early October whenthey return to their full show it will be a fairer comparison.

brilliant commentary. Your a friggin musical genius. Even if you are not a fan of the music you shuld be able to appreciate musicianship.

I have never heard / seen the REO's live and would love to.
The guys go to England but not Canada.?
Oh well,maybe sometime.
Maybe somebody could put together a Cronin yabfest on U-Tuber, where he just keeps going and going.I would see it just for the heck of it.

I saw Styx, Survivor, and REO together in 2000 in New Orleans. Awesome show. Survivor was by far the weaker of the bands. But Reo brougt the house down, then Styx set it on fire. One of my top 10 shows-ERIC

I'll be seeing Styx in CA next month (there on business actually - coincidental that they're playing near where I'll be), and it'll be interesting to see them. Last I saw them Ricky had only been with the band for a few months.

The show is awesome
I would see REO again as long as there not attached to styx .

I agree. I know if you see the same band or person in concert a lot, sometimes you do hear the same stories over and over, but that is all part of what makes a live show fun and unique -- the on-stage patter and some tidbits of information or comments you would never hear, or read, anywhere else.

What is Gary doing now?

Kevin changed his stories to go with the new songs, and they aren't quite as long. By next year, we'll be tired of the new stories, too. That's a hazard of multiple shows.

I saw REO the end of August at Pechanga. Their Pechanga tickets were $65, and the Styx tickets this year at Pechanga, were about $95. Styx sold out and REO didn't. It just depends on venue.

I've seen REO several times (with and without Richrath), including with Survivor & Zebra back in 1984. I'll take the old Richrath-powered version ANY day over the current one. Kevin could sing back then too.

Saw REO in '81 and '07...the fire is still burning. They don't need to share the stage with anyone.
