This should be interesting! Tommy's best bud Jack Blades and his band opening up for Dennis in Florida.
I would love to hear what Jack tells Tommy after this show is over!

I have always thought that Jack and Dennis would get along just fine if they ever met. They arguably have more in common than one might suspect. But I agree, it WILL be an interesting conversation with Tommy.

So Night Ranger is OPENING for DDY....that tells you something about how big he is getting right there....

Somehow, don't think Tommy could pull that one off..

Is this concert for real????

If it is, could it be that Jack will be the guy singing duet with Dennis on One Hundred Years From Now???

I agree with the general sentiment here - Night Ranger opening for DDY will certainly yield some interesting conversations later with Tommy and Jack.

I don't see why DDY and Jack wouldn't get along ... I think the whole incident from 1991 is water under the bridge between Styx/DDY and Jack since he was part of that whole thing, too.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Jack is the one to bridge the gap?

No kidding since Styx was seen even opening for Foreigner this summer, for sure Styx would be the opening act for Night Ranger. Dennis is the man!

First,I don't think Tommy would give a sh*t.

Dennis and Jack would not be talking Styx.If they get to talk that much at all.

Messenger? Please..

Did we have this kind of talk when Dennis OPENED for Ted Nugent a few years back? Did anything happen? Nope..

I doubt that the guys from Night Ranger will even have a chance to talk to DDY and vice versa!

Get your facts straight. Dennis did not open for Ted.

Say what??

Dennis and Ted appeared on a VH1 show together -- "The List."

They did a concert together???? When?

Does Tommy still like Ted since Ted is Anti-Peda?

No Rajah you get your facts STRAIGHT.

A few years ago in Michigan, Styx was booked to play a show with Ted Nugent this was in like 03-04, maybe 02. Styx couldn't make the show due to them being double booked. Ticked at this oversight and the promoter reached out and got Dennis to do the show instead.

There was even talk of it on here at one point, but I stand by this, Dennis Deyoung was the middle of a three band show, Ted Nugent being the Headliner.

Now my dates could be wrong, but I believe it was the same year Dennis did those shows with Meatloaf in NY.

Stepping out of lurk mode...yes they did a concert together in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It also included Molly Hatchett. Yes Dennis opened, followed by Molly Hatchett and finishing up was Ted Nugent.

Dennis actually replaced Styx (not joking here) as they had somehow double booked themselves into this concert and one in Merrillville, Indiana at was/is called the Holiday Star Theater. I don't know the reason this happened. I do know they didn't sell out in Indiana. Very odd situation.

I do believe that there is no animosity between Dennis and Ted.

Peace to all and back to lurk mode for me.

Thanks, Jodes and Sadie. I guess I missed that one along the way.

So, Dennis replaced the opening act, That Version Of Styx? Interesting.

Dennis and Ted were very funny and seemed to be having a very good time on "The List."

Hmmmm....PEDA.

Well, I'm pretty sure TN would be all for the second listing. Don't know how he feels about Passenger Electronic Devices, though.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought maybe people with foot problems might have some issues with Mr. Nugent.

I should have made that a little more clearer. At work here and got in a hurry. I could also have the wrong organization..

Is this concert for real????

Yes, it is now listed on Dennis' website.

I saw Night Ranger a few weeks ago. Jack is very similar to Dennis on stage as he loves to talk to and joke around with the Audience. I think they would get along fine.

I doubt that it means anything

John Waite, a friend of Tommy's and Styx, opened for Dennis and nothing came of that.

I dont' believe (I could be wrong) that Glen Burtnik left Styx on "bad" terms and he now occassionally plays with Dennis AND Dennis has spoken of making an album at some point with Glen. And nothing with Styx happened.

I believe Dennis DID, as a last minute replacement, in fact open for Ted Nugent...and I recall the two of them having some lively discussions and showing genuine respect for each other on VH1.

The most significant thing here is Night Ranger, a band with, in its heyday, a much higher Q-rating than Dennis (since Dennis never really had a "prime" as a solo artist), opening for him. It is a testament to the RELATIVE level of success he's starting to enjoyh as a 60 year old exiled lead singer.

I don't give one shit how they would get along. Why does that matter?

Well, that may not exactly be true. Rumor has it JW may have been the connection that got Glen and Dennis talking. Or so the rumor mill churns.
