OK, so I'm wondering if the part that Eric Lapointe sings is simply what Dennis sings translated, or if it has a different meaning entirely.

If it's the former, how will that work with a Duet in English ? If the latter, what is the translation ?

Eric's translation is different from the English words Dennis has written. Dennis mentioned this in an interview. He already has an English version written and sings it in concert in the US.

I have seen the translation somewhere and if I find it, will post it.

Thanks Bugsy, I can wait until it is released. It will be interesting to me to see how it effects the flow of the song.
It may be that I end up preferring the Canadian version. Time will tell.

Hi, Classic. I have heard both versions and I actually like them both. I will be very interested to see who sings the English version of this with him and how that will change the tone of the song. (If it does).

I am still enjoying this album, but am very ready to hear the US version with the added track and the all-English "100 years."

I hope the version that he recorded solo will be one of the "bonus" songs on the US cd. I know there will be 2 bonus songs on the US version.

Hey there! I actually posted the French-to-English translation to 100 Years some time ago, when the single first came out, before the full CD release. I presume there's a way to search that on here by whoever posted? I was surprised that the two sets of lyrics were so different. Eric's lyrics seemed quite a bit edgier to me.

I agrees, Bugs! They have the same general idea... but Eric's have a little more "oomph" is all. I see why they just can't translate directly back and forth. Kinda throws off the beat of the song a bit when suddenly the words don't rhyme, and the lines vary from two words to fifteen. LOL

I know you're being facetious, but I *have* to reply (OK, I know. Big DUH.) The problem Rowdy was talking about before was in response to a thread that ABOUT a Shaw-Blades video that was riddled with replies from certain "pro-Dennis" people that were in that thread for the sole purpose of stirring up shit. It seems these certain people (and you know who they are by now, I would hope?) are ONLY in the Dennis camp and exist here solely for the purpose of hyping him and berating everyone else. THOSE are the people Rowdy was questioning, not people like you, Sadie, Suite, ClassicStyx, etc. If you're only here to disparage what remains of Styx, why would you waste your time like that? That's what he's saying.

Like, you needed to be told (and like the ones who it was directed towards are smart enough to understand it)...But if a joke is made based on a point that might have gone missed, I gotta speak up.

I have no problem with LaPoint's voice either, however, I'm not completely certain it was the best "match" for DeYoung. I do, however, really like the song - it's catchy and I like the music a lot. It's probably my favorite on that CD right now, next to "Rain."

I was winking there. But we do have that sort of thing you mention going on on both sides here, so.... I do tend to shrug and move on with a lot of what is posted here. (Seems more and more these days).

I am one who feels it is not MY place on a public board to tell anyone what, or what not, to say. Nor do I feel it is my right to tell them to get out, no matter whose side they take.

I found a video of a performance on YouTube (sorry, I don't have the link), and Eric seems to sing slightly different lyrics than on the studio recording.

Instead of "Comment pourront nos yeux, rongés par la honte," he clearly sings "aveuglés par la honte", and it also sounds like he says "Impossible d'oublier. Pourrons-nous se pardonner ?" instead of "Est-ce possible d'oublier. Pourrons-nous nous pardonner ?" As far as I can tell, that means "Can we be forgiven?" instead of "Can we forgive ourselves?"

Here's the French lyrics from that performance as best I could tell, and my best attempt at translating them into English (I've been studying French for several years, but I still have a long way to go):

I have heard the samples of the songs. They all sound great.

Does anyone know what the message of the title track is? When I first read it, I thought it was another anti-war song. However, now that I look at it again, I feel like there is more to it. Any other ideas of the song's meaning?

Also, does anyone know any sites where I can find the lyrics for the other songs? And, is there any news on US release date?
