You just figured it out already??? The off-key singers has been with them since 1999!

"Singer", I mean.

1999, not 1998.

"A" lead singer, not "The" lead singer.

"Permanent" is an awfully strong word to describe anyone in a band.

People that know I am a Styx fan, always ask if I am still a fan because Styx lead singer is no longer in the band.
I always reply "with really? which one?" the reply is usually..."you know, the guy who sings babe" to which I reply "whew I thought Tommy and JY are gone too" and then they stop asking stooooooopid questions

Probably not all that "stoooooooooopid". DDY usually sang over 60% of Styx albums (on the A&M albums). Saying that Tommy and JY's singing contributions are equal to DDY might just be a little revsionist.

I think I have to disagree with that number, wow I must be bored today, but, I believe it's more like 40% but, if you have the time go back and check...I just gave it a quick glance. And by the way, I could be wrong, but I believe Boat on the River is Styx biggest seller worldwide, I'm not positive on that but sure enough to say it, while yes Babe or Mr Roboto maybe be Styx best sellers in US. The thing is I am not knocking DDY, I still go see his shows.

I guess it's a matter of perspective...and in keeping with the dead horse syndrome...most people that know of Styx do tend to think of Dennis as the lead singer. Not because he was better, and not out of disrespect for Tommy or JY, but simply because the songs he sang lead on were the more radio friendly. While die hards think differently, most casual fans don't.

agreed and that was kind of what my post was about.

I like Gowan as a solo artist. A LOT. "A Criminal Mind" is a friggin' masterpiece!

However, not fit for Styx. I'm hoping that all parties will jump on the "reunion bandwagon", and get back together with DeYoung. Since the Panozzo Bros. can't seem to tour anymore, because one is deceased and the other has health problems, I figure to make it feel like a real reunion you could always get Burtnik at bass and Sucherman at drums (since he was on the '95 reunion).

That's just me. I know my dreams are too high, but I have been proven wrong enough to not count it out.

Too much bitterness and bad blood unfortunately.. But stranger things have happened.

Yeah.. and when Led Zeppelin took the Stage at Live Aid in 85, people said the exact same thing back then as they are now..

If they tour great, if not.. you have this show to remember.

Look at Pink Floyd.. they did ONE reunion show too.. if I do recall NOTHING CAME OUT OF IT..

Unlike Styx, it didn't take 2 tours and a try at a new CD to open old wounds. Would love to see it happen but I have a feeling the river styx will freeze over twice before that happens again.

From what I've read, I'd say it was more that they were smart enough to realize that attempting anything so ambitious would open old wounds, so best to leave folks with a happy ending (Live8) than risk a crash & burn.
