STYX ticket/M&G hoax alert
Dear STYX fans,
We always hate to have to bring attention to this kind of cheap and mindless scam, but someone seems to be contacting STYX fans with the following offer, and we felt it was better to put the word out so that you don't fall victim. This person is not, despite her claims, affiliated with the band in any way whatsoever, nor is there any validity to anything she says or offers. Her emails have stated the following:
[Beginning of Email Text]
I am holding 4 complimentary front row tickets for you, for the Styx concert on [date]. Plus I have a backstage pass for you and 3 friends, for a backstage reception, immediately following the concert. The concert is at [venue].
My name is [XXXXX], I work with Styx's promotions director. (I am also Tommy Shaw's half-sister, not that it's relevant). I'd be delighted to hand you these tickets in person. Please meet me in the lobby of the [local hotel name and address]. I will be wearing a "Styx" tour jacket, and have long blonde hair. I'll be arriving in a black Lincoln Continental Towncar. I will be there (definitely) between 8:00 pm and 9:15 pm.
A. Please be there in person with VALID identification.
B. You may bring along a friend(s) but
C. PLEASE, do not notify the media!
3 other fans will also be waiting for their tickets at the Wyndham as well, tonight.
We apologize for the very last minute arrangements and for all of the secrecy. The reason for this is that we want NO media alerted, as we are attempting to have a documentary of sorts filmed, featuring some of Styx most die-hard fans (this is why we are contacting you). We are also contacting other very special and dedicated fans from a collected list, and making contacts in 12 different cities. After the concert, if you choose not to participate in the filming, or to be interviewed with members of the band, that is your prerogative, and you may decline the invitation to join us for the backstage reception. However the front row concert tickets are yours, irrespective of whether you choose to participate in offering comments for the documentary, or not.
[End of email text]
Beyond wasting your valuable time, we don't know exactly what this person thinks she will gain from this, but if you do receive one of these emails, please be aware that it's nothing but a hoax!
We're sorry for any inconvenience this causes!
Sincerely,
The team at STYXWorld.com
