Related Articles Chilliwack to open for Styx at CN Centre

The Styx concert scheduled for Monday at CN Centre has been cancelled due to "unanticipated travel issues," KMJ Productions announced in a press release Wednesday.

Starting Monday, ticket refunds will be available at original Ticketmaster points of sale. These include the CN Centre box office and Studio 2880. Patrons can also call 614-9100 or check www.ticketmaster.ca.

Refunds will not be available before Monday.

Is this the same "gone gone gone she been gone gone gone" Chilliwack from the MTV days where they played videos???

Yes it is Lord. They are opening up for Styx in Red Deer on the 18th.

Honestly, I think its that and as well poor ticket sales. As for Froy or any other Styx bashers start to comment, Prince George's economy has been literally decimated by an investation of a simple beatle. Its literally shut down the city's #1 source of revenue. Although Western Canada's economy is booming, there are still areas hurting.

Same with Grande Prairie, the Oilpatch there has pretty much slowed to a crawl as well.

You can't buy concert tickets if you can't afford to feed your family!

Plus, I blame the bonehead for planning these dates to begin with.

You should either start or END in Prince George, not do this:

Edmonton on the 15th
Grande Prairie on the 16th (5 hours from Edmonton)
Prince George on the 17th (5-6 hours from Grande Prairie)
Red Deer Alberta on the 18th (12-14 hours from Prince George)
Calgary, Alberta on the 19th (1.5 hours from Red Deer)
Vancouver, BC - 21 and 22.

5 dates in a row.. now those times I've given are on ideal roads.. if there's bad weather, its even longer!

Go look at a map and see just how far they have to cover that week.. its insane!

Jodes, I agree with you, that's a tough schedule. what stinks is that once again it's close to you and cancellation occurs. What are they trying to tell you....

I couldn't believe that they had added those dates--too much travel! And the weather/roads could be terrible. Also, I'm not surprised that they were cancelled because they were last-minute announcements anyway. The rest of the dates had been on for a long time. I also have to say though, that these concerts in Alberta have been poorly promoted. Other shows by Lou Gramm & Ace Frehley have been getting way more promotion locally than the Styx shows, even with Lou being at the same venue on the previous night in Edmonton.

Well I was at the Lou Gramm show yesterday and there was maybe 400 people there.. Not a sell out by any means. The Radio Station who sponsered it was given 300 tickets to try and give away to get people in the venue. They couldn't even give the majority of them away. The DJ mentioned that Gramm may have only sold 200 or so tickets.

Actually, I haven't heard a single advertisement for Ace Frehley, a few for Lou Gramm, but I have heard a lot of Styx advertisements on the radio.

It will be interesting to see just how many show up tonight..

And I still don't care what Froy thinks

Have to agree here. Knock on wood I'm doing OK, but if I had to choose between being able to put food on the table or gas in my car to go to work vs. seeing a show, I'd do the former.

Even $50 per ticket, which in these times is fairly cheap, is very expensive for many. I realize this.

Yepp. Agree. I payed $3.17 for Gas today and they are talking about it going up to $4 by the summer. For a 21 gal tank of gas, it gets pretty expensive. I also travel 30 miles to work and back every day.

$3.28 here. Definitely a review of what you are willing to spend money on.

There will naturally be a ripple effect from higher fuel costs. Of course, many are seeing it in the grocery store already.

It will most certainly effect how far people will travel on a trip. How far people will travel on a trip to see a CONCERT. How far they will travel to see a concert and fork over money for a ticket.

I am guessing some concerts and concert venues will suffer a loss during the summer months if gas continues to rise, especially to the levels being predicted, which is over $4.00 a gallon in the near future.

I feel sorry for the poor soul who ends up winning the presidential election in November....they will be inheriting a huge mess ! the country is in debt to the tune of 9 trillion dollars, the oil producing countrys are realizing they can and must cash in on their diminishing natural resources, people are losing their homes at an alarming rate, and we are just starting to see inflation on food items and in many other categories other due to rising oil prices.

I'm thinking many luxuries that are considered "necessities" by the vast majority of people will need to be curtailed ( going out for dinner frequently, Cable/Satellite TV, exotic vacations amongst others ) so they can pay for true necessities like food,shelter, transportation and Healthcare...

Makes me wonder who in their right mind would WANT to be in charge of the country for the next 4 years !!! Good luck to that person whoever it turns out to be.

Because EVERY concert there has been cancelled due to low ticket sales. Oh and here's a clue - the economy is bad EVERYWHERE. Don't blame the economy for Tommy and JY sucking. If memory serves, they sucked while the economy was good too!

Me, neither.

As to the ads, there may have been radio promotion, but the Styx show seemed to be left out of almost all of the print advertising that I saw.

Anyway, it was a great Styx show last night!

If memory serves me correct Dennis has cancelled a few shows as well.. including one right here in Edmonton.. so whats your theory on that?
