DOESNT STYX REALIZE?????

I know that this sounds Froyish, but are'nt Tommy, JY and the rest starting to realize that unless they spruce it up some they are about to run out of fans willing to dish out cash for their same type of triple bill show????

What could make some REAL noise is Styx hooking up with Night Ranger & Ted Nugent. Tommy & Jack could be on stage for close to 3 hours, they could and would sell out HUGE venues and this would bring out the fans in droves.

Ted solo- 30 minutes
Tommy & Jack - 30 minutes
Night Ranger - 50 minutes
Styx - 50 minutes
Damn Yankees- 50 minutes

* What a bad ass show - Flip the closer nightly - They sell out EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

I love the idea but I don't think Ted or JY wouuld ever let it happen the way you have it laid out.

How about this...

Night Ranger - :30 minutes
Ted :60 minutes with Jack and Tommy joining him for a Damn Yankees Greatest hits set in the middle
Styx :75 Minutes

I would love to see STYX and TED swithching off the "Headline" position and playing time but I doubt JY would go for that.

Problem is, Stynx doesn't have TIME to even think, much less realize the situation they're in. I can imagine a conversation in the dressing room going like this:

TS: Hey, JY. I need to talk to ya for a sec---

JY: Not now, man! We gotta hit the stage in 3 minutes!!

(After the show...)

JY: So whaddaya want to talk to me about, man?

TS: Well, it's about this triple bill and playing the same set every----

JY: Whew, look at the time! We gotta get on the bus for our next show. Guess we'll have to talk after the tour is over...in 2013.

im tired of the triple bills in general, when bands of that stature only get 45min,
if you cant do and 1 1/2 set then i will not pay to see it.
ive seen styx about 7 times without ddy and just listen dont watch since the jrny styx reo show.
if cheap trick dont play at least 50mins with journey ill be pissed.
all these bands should take a page from night ranger and play thier big 10 hits and change up thwe other 3/5 songs in the set to keep everybody at least a little happy. and quit playing covers. dont you know who you are

Cheap Trick is EPIC. They should be headlining that show.

Who is Journey's NEW lead singer now?? What a JOKE they are! More new lead singers than Baskin Robbins has flavors. As a matter of fact, Journey should get Baskin Robbins as a sponser. They could promise them a new lead singer every month.
That should keep it fresh.

They (Journey) have GOT to sign Whitney when they make their next lead singer change(August 08). Who wouldnt love to see Whitney Houston & The Wilson sisters up on the same stage??? Nutri System could co-sponser the show. Plus if nutri System doesnt work just shove that finger down your throat.

With the Styx, Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, Ted show here is what you could/ should get:

Ted for 80 minutes- solo 30 w/Damn Yankees 50
Styx( JY, Ricky, Gowan, Chuck) 50 minutes - JY shouldnt bitch thats damn near all they play now- plus if he is just in it for the money like some believe this is a EASY EASY cash cow.
Night Ranger minus Jack - 50 minutes -
Jack & Tommy 180 minutes - 30 solo- 50 with Damn Yankees- plus 50 minutes with either Night Ranger or Styx
Todd 100 minutes - He says he loves to play, will now its show us time Todd. - 50 with Styx - and 50 with Damn Yankees IF they need a drummer

This show would RAKE!!!!

Every year about this time we talk about some variation of this.

And I am with the triple bill thing. Either the ticket prices are at a stupid price with adequate time for the bands or they are at a stupid price with in sufficient time for the bands. Just not enough time with the needed set changes between 7:30 and 11:00. Either way it is 2 1/2 hours of live music at best.

see, now I think you are all thinking too small...........

I think what they should do is have a 25 city tour with 25 of the greatest classic rock groups of all time !

Yeah, each group could play 1 song each....and and every stop on the tour they all could play a different song !

no date on the tour would have even 1 song in coomon with any other date, and no set lists would be released prior to the show, so you would truly be surprised by what you hear as a ticket buyer !

fricken classic rock shows have become so damn predictable, this would be the perfect cure for the concert blahs......

( will never happen of course, but imagine the possibilities  )

Ayup. And every year it gets a little less likely.

It is odd, though, that Styx and NR haven't even crossed paths to share a one-off bill during these past several years of heavy touring. Maybe TS & JB just want to avoid having the who-should-headline discussion? ;)

I hate to say it but that lineup would not sell out huge venues.

Guys.. in 2004 there was a rumour of a Night Ranger/Ted Nugent/Styx triple bill, with a Damn Yankees set during Ted's time.

Their promoters met together and decided that it wouldn't make money, because the DY/SB fans were few and far between. So Styx's people went and toured with Frampton and Nelson, Night Ranger did a handful of dates and Ted I believe toured with Deep Purple.

So the idea has been tossed around..

I concur . . . I believe that most of Damn Yankees' fans came from one of the three camps of Styx, NR or Ted. Mind you I'm not saying they didn't earn any other fans, but the core of that band's appeal was that it was a supergroup with a built-in audience. I don't think there's a lot of natural crossover with Styx and NR, or with Styx and Ted, or with Ted and NR, so a triple bill with a DY set involved would really only still draw the demographic fragment of the Styx fan base that also wants to see NR and Ted, the part of the NR fans willing to sit through Styx and Ted, and the (probably very small) part of the Ted fans willing to sit through Styx and NR. There's not enough extra draw to pay all three, and besides, NR's draw is tiny anyway, and a Damn Yankees reunion in any other scenario apart from clubs would almost certainly fail. It is, after all, a band that had just one true "hit", and that was a really long time ago. I don't think this will come to pass . . . and frankly, I'm one of the ones who would never, ever pay to see anything again that involved Ted Nugent. Nice guy, grating performer. The show I saw in Atlanta for the 'Don't Tread' tour was one of the worst concert experiences of my entire life, with his really stupid bow and arrow tricks and lame stage jive, and the fact that he can't sing to save his life. Horrible! Just horrible . . . and this from someone who thought the first Damn Yankees tour was electrifying. Loved the second album, hated the live show, and I've always thought Ted's solo stuff was about as lame, songwriting-wise, as it gets.

I hope all is well.
