If you could trade...........

Postby classicstyxfan » Sun Jun 15, 2008 4:02 am

OK, this is a mildly stupid topic, but here goes anyways.

In the sports world, teams can make trades with other teams to improve the personnel on their roster, to make trades fair often times a trade can be an uneven swap, i.e. 2 palyers for 1.

In this thread, you've just become General Manager of the Styx Corporation, and can make "roster moves"

will you make any roster moves ? if so, what will they be ?

Me? I'd Trade Gowan for 2 cases of Gatorade !

I'll bite! Classic, I would trade Ricky Phillips (no offense, Ricky fans, had to trade somebody) for Dennis DeYoung and Glen Burtnik. This would be a great move, because it would allow them to tackle just about anything in their catalog, sans the JC material. Taking the sports world analogy even further, I would put incentives in their contracts for any new music produced cooperatively by the parties of Young, Shaw and DeYoung, and penalties for any music created by a single songwriter with no input from the others. Glen Burtnik would be my utility musician, and free to contribute songwriting individually or collaboratively, since he's way cool! Lawrence would be a role player brought into the live show for certain keyboarding situations as they arise (or if Dennis needed to be benched temporarily for bringing another High Crimes & Misdemeanors song to the table - lol). Todd would be like an offensive lineman in football: little or no recognition but a vital part of the group. Finally, I would slap the franchise tag on Tommy because he's my fave and I don't wan't him going anywhere.

I'd trade JY, Tommy, Todd, Gowan, Ricky, Chuck and Charlie Brusco for DDY and Suzanne. That would be awesome. I would go to every show and worship them because they would be the true Styx. My life would improve dramatically as I could now rest knowing the name Styx was back with it's rightful owners. I could tell all my friends about it. I get goose bumps thinking about it. The end.

I would trade Ricky for Jack Blades. I am not sure why he wasn't hired in the first place when Glen left.

Or better yet, just bring Glen back.

Suzanne owned STYX....that's odd. And Founding Father Chuck - there before Dennis, is out of the picture. NOw I know why you had goose bumps

Retire the Styx jersey altogether. It is looking pretty worn now.

Send Tommy to join Jack Blades on a new, two-man squad that will tour the country.

Send Ricky to enjoy the view above Lake Travis in Austin. Ditto Todd, but perhaps he could be traded off to a team that needs a quality player.

Let Chuck enjoy his good life as a Florida retiree.

Send Gowan back to whatever it was he did in Canada.

Send JY back to the cab company.

DDY is already playing for his own team and seemingly satisfied with his manager/player position there where he often shows glimpses of the standout star he used to be, including still hitting a few out of the park.

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

with time travel capabilities I would offer up Lawrence and Ricky for 1970's verison Steve Walsh....that might be enough to make me forget all about "the former keyboard player"

I'm doubting the GM for Kansas would go along with this though......
