Glen Burtnik Interview Questions?

PostPosted: Sat Jun 21, 2008 1:50 pm
by Rockwriter
I am supposed to interview Glen for his upcoming Beatles 'White Album' performance, so in keeping with tradition, I wanted to throw it open to some questions from everyone on the list. If you have any questions you'd like to see me ask Glen, send them my way in the next couple of days! Most of this interview will deal specifically with the Beatles and the upcoming show, but I'm sure I'll sneak a couple of Styx questions in as well, and some questions about his other work.

Thanks! Email me the questions at sterlingwit@aol.com. I hope all is well.

Ask him if he'll be performing "Sex Farm" in Atlanta this October.

Are there any recordings or DVD's out there of these Beatle performances ? I'd really like to hear his treatment of their songs.

What does Glen think of Styx' version of I am The Walrus?

Does he think there would have eventually been a Beatles reunion if all of it's members were still alive today?

actually, it's rumored that they *almost* reunited back in the mid 70s when Lorne Michaels and SNL offered the beatles something ridiculous like a thousand dollars to reunite live on SNL for one night. it's too bad they didn't do it. Seeing Yoko & Olivia Harrison in the audience of Paul's liverpool show earlier this month (and hearing him perform A Day in the Life and Give Peace a Chance) leads me to conclude that had John & George still been alive, they would have eventually buried the hatchet. it's unfortunate we'll never have the opportunity to see it. :(

Ask him if he has any more plans for songs like "Love is the Ritual" or "All in a Day's Work". To me, these were great songs & we need more of this creativity in rock today. Basically, just see what new material he has ready for the world....

Hey Sterling:
Ask Glen to talk about the time he and DDY met Paul McCartney, i heard it was a pretty funny experience. From a songwriter's perspective, If he had to pick one or two Beatle songs that are his favorites (not singles) which would they be.

I have a question you could ask him, if you would..

When Glen had his School of Rock radio program on 105.7 The Hawk, he wrote/perrformed a parody of the Beatles' "A Day In the Life" with the tv theme from Green Acres (for his 'April Fools Day' episode). Has he ever played around with other Beatles tunes to make parodies?

Thanks so much!

Hi, Sterling...

Ask Glen his thoughts on performing Beatles songs with Randy Jackson of Zebra (in Atlanta) and if he would be interested in doing that sometime in the future?

ask if he'd do said show in the dallas area (HOB or Glass Cactus) ;)

randy & glen doing a whole beatles set, in addition to their own solo sets would be awesome!!!

I'm sorry, sweetie, but Randy did nothing for me at all. His voice is a bit irritating. I'd rather see him team up with somebody else if it has to come to that. How about Rik Emmett instead?

I've seen them easily over a dozen times. just thought it might be interesting to hear him and glen do a beatles set. now, i'd much rather hear bob burger and glen do another set together, but the question was about glen & randy. heck- i'll take what i can get!!! ;)

You were never a huge anything. ;-)

I'd like the see a Burger/Burtnik combo myself, but I was trying to make it fit into the Texas arena (ie: I doubt anyone in Texas knows much about either one of those guys) so I threw Rik out there as an option. That might get 'em in the door. Besides, how terrible would it be to see Rik Emmett? I know I wouldn't be upset.

All this wishin's making me sleepy.

Well, I've been to Dallas and let me tell you ... impossible to even get that stuff down there. And you'd have to import water from NYC to get real bagels :) You'd do better importing H&H and selling those.

Ask him if any of these performances will be recorded and possibly released at a later date. If it goes off topic, ask him if he ever plans to release a CD sequel for the Xmas Xtravaganza.
