They were fucking awful? They cleared the joint out and they really could do anything that was even passable for a professional show. People were booing and cursing. Now this article where hey aren't singing the songs. Geez! When do they get called out for this bad behavior and Styx should not even be any where near this stink.
The shows in Baton Rouge and Los Angeles were pretty much the same. People were LOUDLY complaining about how bad Boston was, and there was a mass exodus from the venue.
I always loved Boston, and when I saw them a few years ago, they were fantastic. They were tight, the sound was sparkling clean, and the energy level was high, even though they weren't the type of band that runs around the stage a lot.
Because Brad Delp had such a distinctive voice, I was afraid that they'd never be able to find someone who could sing his parts convincingly. It turned out that the vocals weren't the problem. The new guy sounded a lot like Delp, but that's the only thing that was familiar. The sound was muddy and unbalanced, the playing was sloppy, and their energy level...well, it was like they had all had a heavy meal right before the show.
Fortunately, the show here a few days ago was just Styx.
