Methods & Mechanics DVD Trailer Youtube Clips....

Hey Everybody,

The first three Youtube clips on the front page here is the 15 minute performance trailer for my DVD "Methods and Mechanics" due out July 29th from Altitude Digital. We edited this trailer in 5 days back in January for showings at the NAMM show. These are scratch edits and SCRATCH unmixed audio. (The mixed versions BLOW these away.) These are just some snippets of songs and solos and there will be much more on the double DVD.

Methods and Mechanics includes:
Grip and stroke analysis with many rudiments and hybrid rudiment exercises
Orchestration of hybrid rudiments and stickings for musical application on the drum set
In depth analysis of hi hat techniques and how they effect groove and feel
Emphasis on mastering a simple vocabulary before moving on to more complex concepts
Thoughts on practice and patience
8 performance songs with full analysis--some with "play by play" voice over
Full double bass drum vocabulary for unique use in grooves and fills
Odd time break down of more complex time signatures
Musical notation and downloadable PDFs
Tips for music business career navigation, as well as tips for recording sessions, shaping songs with dynamics, paying attention to lyrics, traveling on the road, keeping things fresh, thoughts on gear and loads of extras that include A Day On The Road, Drum Room Tour, Thoughts on working with Styx, Brian Wilson and Taylor Mills and an extensive photo gallery.

OK. Hope everyone digs the trailer! I'm very excited about this project--
Cheers!

You beat me to it, Mark! haha...

FYI: The DVD's release has been pushed back a week to August 5th, so mark your calendars. :)

Also, here's a smokin' sampler video with much higher definition. You'll like it way better. Check it out:

Amazing.

I'm particularly impressed with how, during "Renegade," he was beating the shit out of that big imaginary head behind him.

During The Main Event tour. I think I spent the whole show shaking my head at Todd's drumming. Amazing. I'd guess I spent 75% of their set watching him play.

Good stuff.

Froy, WTF? Do you have to hijack every single legitimate thread?
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Froy is no more or less guilty of Thread Hijacking than some other people on here. Just kinda comes with the turf. What is really cool is when the people who complain about Froy hijacking the thread start new threads that are just about Froy. Would that be Forum Hijacking? :)

That would actually be froyjacking, which is disgusting and perverted, and also illegal in the contiguous United States.

Just a note to keep you up to date on recent Taylor Mills news. Talks have begun for a new Taylor Mills CD to start production in early 2009. As well, Taylor and Todd Sucherman appear together on the upcoming Brian Wilson CD, "That Lucky Old Sun" due out on September 2nd.

Todd Sucherman and Altitude Digital have teamed up to produce the ultimate drum DVD, "Methods and Mechanics" available here: Altitudedigital.com

Four tracks from Taylor's "Lullagoodbye" CD are performed, featured, and are broken down with explanations regarding the various tracks. Music from Styx and Jerry Goodman (of Mahavishnu Orchestra fame) is included as well. Music from the entire "Lullagoodbye" CD is featured in the extensive photo gallery full of personal pictures from their shared experience with Brian Wilson and Styx tours and sessions.

It's a 2 disc set, over 5 hours, shot in HD 16x9 that is sure to entertain and enlighten musicians and non musicians alike---and especially drummers. More about "Methods and Mechanics" DVD:

Hey Bugsy;

Thanks for the good word. It took me a while to decide what I wanted. I wanted to make a political statement - which anyone who has listened to Mindcrime will understand the meaning of. I really like it. The guy who did it is really talented. I'm trying to decide on one for the other arm, but I'm going to wait for this one to fully heal before I go making any plans ;)

I'll take this as a term of endearment.

Life is getting back to normal post divorce (which was almost 14 months ago now and so much has changed). Hoping to make it to some DDY related events in the future.

BTW - Def Leppard is coming to Nashville... is Styx with them? I couldn't tell by the advert I saw. Was considering going to see them for the Tommy Shaw factor. Thoughts?

yeah I've heard some grateful dead references too.... I might get it touched up a bit at some point to combat that. I ain't no dead-head.

And yeah, I've blown my top a few times. It's been 10 years... you gotta really try to be bitter after 10 years. My position hasn't changed really, but then again I have MUCH bigger things to worry about in my day-to-day life.

I'm thinking about going out to see DDY at that benefit thing he's doing in NC. It's about as close as he's coming this time around. I'll be in Raleigh around the same time for the Jon Oliva show as well. Anyone who likes Styx era music should give Global Warning a spin. The music really reminded me of that era of music. Albeit with a little heavier vocals.

I just got my autographed copy in yesterday and it is excellent. If you haven't picked it up yet do so, it is worth even if you are not a drummer. Todd is a joy to watch, there are some great jams, lessons and words of encouragement on this DVD. I have always thought a lot of Todd, but now I even have a higher respect for the man as a musican. Buy the DVD!
